They still look to a god called Quetzalcoatl, which is believed by many to be Jesus Christ, because he is said to have visited the Mayan people, or the ancestors of the Mayans, and they still look to his return, and it's very interesting. They speak a language called Tzotzil, or a language called Tzeltal.

You're going to hear a lot about political turmoil and economic stuff. And something I was able to hear about was in 2006, there was blockades from teachers, and the teachers are protesting, and they pretty much have protested since then. And they blocked tons of streets. And so something that's interesting about Oaxaca is people are not afraid to say what they believe. And people in Oaxaca are not afraid to do what is right. And they're willing to sacrifice for a lot to get that. And it was really interesting to see that. It was really interesting to see all that. Another interesting fact about Oaxaca is the Geleguetza. And it's the biggest festival in Latin America. I mean, it's huge. And so every time I was there, we went. It's a dance festival. They have different dances from each region in Oaxaca. And it's really interesting to watch. It's really beautiful.

Turns out, they were on the team that developed the film Coco. So that place in Coco where the family lives, that is based off of a town in Oaxaca. In the Book of Mormon it talks about the Nephites, it also talks about the Jaredites, and it also mentions really briefly the Mulekites. And a lot of Book of Mormon scholars believe that Oaxaca is where the Mulekites or the Jaredites may have landed and lived for a period of time.
