One way that I treat my symptoms is through medication and supplements. I am taking a few different medications right now and then I have a few supplements to help with my energy levels just because I deal with a lot of fatigue. So being able to take a few extra vitamins to help give me that energy boost is super helpful. I also make sure that I get lots of sleep and on days that I know that I'm going out and about all day or that are super tolling, I make sure that I have a day after to recover and to be able to let my body get back to the way that it needs to be and know that I don't have to push myself to the limits.

Recently, I had a conversation with one of the directors of the Lupus Foundation, and over the last 10 years, I was surprised to realize that there's not been a lot of change in treatment options. There's the same kind of category of medicine that can be used, and so I really value treatment from a different approach. I try to see treatment as not just treating a symptom, but treating well-being overall, and so I try to move my body every day. I try to be aware of how much sleep that I need. I try to use meditation to help with stress. I try to use supplements, and I also get regular massages. Those are super helpful with joint pain and also fatigue, and so you may have to figure out what treatments are the best for you, and so I'm not saying that medicine isn't a great option, but with that comes some side effects.
