Hi, because I'm not a doctor, this is not medically based, but based on my experience with lupus and research. Hormones often play a part in the initial onset of symptoms, and on my journey through lupus, it was a severe sunburn and some other stressors. So stress and hormones can often be a trigger. Often with a new pregnancy or change in hormones when you're a teenager can often be times where lupus shows up. Causes though for autoimmune is a much deeper conversation and complexed. So from what the research is showing, there's no definitive cause, but there can be triggers for having flare-ups.
