I am Lithuanian, so I don't find this as a crazy food experience, but šalti barščiai so it's like a, they would call it pink soup, which is a very cold one and you use it for a summer time. Or šaltiana, so šaltiana is just meat in a jelly. Something else, probably buttermilk.

So a common summertime snack is basically like cucumber that's horizontally sliced and they put honey on top of it. It's not bad at all, it's just nothing too special. I thought that was kind of weird. Oh, dill tea! A ton of dill in hot water and just dump in a ton of sugar. It was actually really good, mildly surprised at that one. But I think the most gregarious piece of food in Lithuania is probably šeldytuviena. It comprises of two words, šeldytuvas and viena, which basically means the meat of the refrigerator. So I thought it was leftovers, but it's actually like really overboiled meat parts and wilted vegetables suspended in a bundt pan filled with gelatin. The texture, everything is really gross, but I assure you, if you like meat, if you like cheese, if you like potatoes, if you're not lactose intolerant and you don't have like glucose problems, you're gonna do fine and you're gonna love the food there. It's like absolutely fantastic. Can't recommend it enough.
