I became a librarian by accident. I was already in graduate school and about to graduate with my MA in history and law when the National Library of Canada contacted me and said that they had no Indigenous librarians. They wanted Indigenous librarians but it was difficult at the time, it was back in 1995, to find Indigenous people with the required bachelor's degree. So I didn't know that librarians had a master's degree, I had no idea, but decided that I would go ahead and do that. It's been a great career for me and it's been very successful for me and I am so glad that I did it. It's been almost 30 years.
