If you're in Asahikawa, which is also the best, is, I really liked going to the zoo there, Asahiyama Zoo. It's really fun.

If there's one thing that the Japanese do well, it's parks and public recreation. Most cities have several parks. A lot of them, even in small towns, will have a public gymnasium. There's a weight room. There's often a pool. You can play basketball. You can play volleyball, table tennis, badminton, all kinds of things. If you are in Iwamizawa, there's the Greenland Amusement Park. Asahikawa has one of the best zoos in the entire country, Asahiyama Zoo.
