The biggest safety tip that I can give is to lock your bike properly. If you don't, tie it up. Bikes have a high tendency to be stolen, even if it's a bike made up out of different bikes, that almost becomes like this monster Frankenstein bike, it's still likely to be stolen by someone. It's a good commodity that is needed in Japan, especially if there's no parking spaces over there.
You're gonna ride a bike, especially the mountain bike. You can go really fast, yeah you can, but be careful about that. If you're crossing the road or something, just be careful about if there's a car or a pedestrian, people walking by. So you should be careful when you're on the ride, on the bike. I think that's all for the safety advice.
Always ride your bike the way cars are driving. So always be on traffic flow, never go against traffic flow. You can get pretty dangerous, of course, going towards cars. So always ride on the left side.
Make sure you have lots of flashing lights on the front and the back of your bicycle because you will be riding your bike in the dark at some point and you're going to want people to be able to see you. So make sure that there's flashing lights on the bike. Keep you safe.
So keep your bike in good shape. It might seem like a good idea to put off airing those tires or fixing those spokes or fixing your brakes. Do not go fix your bike.
Learn how to walk on ice because you will probably spend a lot of time walking on ice, and a lot of people fall frequently. Especially when you get to like uneven surfaces on the roads where the cars have been running over it for a while. Get good at catching yourself and not hurting yourself when you fall.
It's very safe. The only probably danger that you could possibly ever have is you yourself biking and being reckless as you bike. And so just make sure you're being careful as you bike in the rain or sometimes in the snow or with heavy wind.
