Italy is generally pretty safe. There are a few things you need to worry about, like people-wise. You have some run-ins with some creepy men. Don't let people know where you live, don't give your phone number to random people. So just be aware, be careful. There's also a lot of immigrants in Italy. You just need to be aware that sometimes, if you have loose things, your money will get taken. So just be aware of your belongings and where you're at.
