I think the best language tip that you could receive probably from anybody is to just jump right in and completely immerse yourself. I remember that I changed the settings on my camera so that they were in Spanish. When I would go in and take money out of the ATM, I would try and do it in Spanish and every single time you see something just be looking it up, just be writing it down and you'll find your own way of doing it and you'll do great, you'll learn it, just immerse yourself.

What helped me a lot is to try to use their slang, but like the innocent slang, like watch the way they use their words. They don't always say like, hi, it's nice to meet you. They sometimes change the way they say things. So if you repeat what they say, sometimes that helps. You'll have to be careful because they don't always say the best thing. But also if you just smile, even if you know you're doing it wrong, if you just smile and they can see that you're trying, they think it's just the cutest thing ever to see someone who so obviously doesn't know what they're doing trying. And they just love it. They love that people try to adapt their culture.

Language tips. Use the word calidad, which means like cool. I think that would be super helpful for you to kind of blend in. And always make sure you can speak loud and fun with the people who are loud and fun, and then quiet and reserved with the people who are more reserved. Obviously that's kind of true in anywhere you go, but it's especially true in Guatemala. Especially, especially true. And joke around with them, you know. They love to have fun and they love to joke. In Guatemala, the main languages are Quechi, K'iche, and Spanish, of course. But there are over 23 dialects of ancient languages that most of them aren't even written in any book. They're all just spoken languages. A lot of them are super dying down and super lost, but there are about 23 dialects that are still around today in Guatemala.

So one interesting thing about Guatemala is that they use voceo, which is a replacement for the second person singular pronoun tú And so they have different conjugations and stuff
