Both France and Switzerland, you'll find a lot of free museums. You have art museums, history museums, cinema museums, and usually they are free. If they are not, you can book them in advance, and usually they're open from Tuesday to Saturday. You also find a lot of rivers in France and a lot of lakes, beautiful places. You'll find a lot of randonnées, to do mountain climbing, which is really, really cool. So you get out of that.
You can often go visit cathedrals or old historical sites like castles and stuff and that's a lot of fun because they're really old and pretty well maintained most of the time.
France is blessed with so many different mountain ranges, the Pyrenees, the Massif Central, the Alps, the Jura, and Switzerland as well has the Alps and the Jura. And yeah, I went on several memorable hikes, one in particular near Aix-en-Provence to a mountain called the Sainte Victoire, and on top of it there's the Croix de Provence, and it's absolutely beautiful. Another time hiking atop part of the Jura mountain range chain and seeing the entire Lac Léman or Lake Geneva.
