Interesting research - Fitness Video Transcripts

One thing that's actually very interesting about working out, in particular, building muscle, it helps fight off and prevent cancer of, I think, all types. I had to write a paper about this in my freshman year of college, and I found, I can't remember exactly, but muscle itself releases some type of toxin chemical that helps prevent cancer. And so even if someone already has cancer, simply building muscle is actually a great way to get rid of it on top of, chemo or whatever else they are doing. And so however hard it may be, building muscle is one of the best things you can do to just live longer. But the unique part is it helps prevent cancer, which I don't think too many people ever would know about that.

So I'm actually reading this book right now, it's called Spark, and it's written by a medical doctor who was a psychiatrist and he found an interesting correlation between exercise and reducing anxiety and improving mental health, so much so that he began prescribing exercise instead of medicine to some patients in some situations, and it was just as if not more effective at treating their conditions. So it's cool to see like exercise is medicine, it can help you feel better mentally and physically.

I always use creatine in all of my fitness endeavors. It's been around for so long, but it has so many benefits there as far as muscular power, strength, not only that, but cognitive ability, as well as many other benefits with virtually no downsides to it. So I recommend that.

On top of being strong, being able to run, there's also simple things like being flexible. There's actually some research that shows that being flexible is going to be one of the biggest ways to prevent yourself from ever getting injured because your muscles are used to moving around, they're used to being able to stretch and flex without tearing or anything like that. So, if you can combine the three, if you can build muscle, you can stay flexible and you can keep up your cardiovascular health. So, doing stuff that's more endurance-based like lots of repetitions or something, running, etc. If you can do all three of those, that is by far the best thing you can do for yourself. Doing any of them is good, but doing all three is the best. There's actually some research that shows that simply just getting up and walking daily is one of the best things to just keep yourself alive longer. The reason why a lot of old people get injured easily and die a lot younger than they should is because they never move around and their body breaks down too easily.

Obviously when it comes to fitness, there are different categories. There is being flexible, there's being very good at running, there's being strong and muscular, kind of the balance and all of that in between. Now obviously there's benefits to each. So building muscle is going to strengthen your bones and ligaments and your structure. It's going to improve your posture. It's going to do a lot of things for you. Building muscle is going to be one of the best things you could ever do for yourself. It also will just give you more energy, make you happier with yourself mentally. It's going to make you more useful just in life if you ever have to do anything physical. However, you can still be muscular without being able to have any good cardiovascular health. So you can't run, you can't do anything for a long period of time, your endurance is bad. If you focus on that, you'll improve your heart's performance, your organ performances like your lungs, and that's also going to help you live longer as well. Now there's more to it that I can get to in a separate video.

Something that I recently learned from the internet is that those people who work out like in the middle of the day, so like afternoon, early afternoon, have a lower risk of premature death than those who work out in the early morning or evening. So, I don't know if it's completely true, but I thought it was interesting.
