Diet reviews - Fitness Video Transcripts

Okay, biggest thing with diet and fitness, stay away from sugar. That is the one of the biggest thing. Added sugars will tear you up. The other thing is going to be trans fats, things like that. Very, very hard for your body to break down because trans fats are fats that are made by artificially combining compounds together, meaning they're made in a lab somewhere by some kind of compound. So those are what trans fats are. You're going to want to stay from trans fats. Any added sugars or really sugars like that aren't natural at all are going to be really bad for you. That's where you want to start. And the other thing is just don't eat out, period. No food eaten out is ever good except for like maybe chipotle.

I think any short-term diet can actually be really harmful. Something that I really wanted to focus on when I started my fitness journey and my health journey is that I wanted my eating habits that I was creating to be sustainable and lifelong. So I knew that any short diets like keto or anything like that, it wasn't going to work for me. And so the things that really worked best for me is I focused on the macros, so the macronutrients that I needed. And I did count them for a little bit. I tracked what I ate, but I stopped only after a few months just to become aware of what I was eating. And then just to, from there, intuitively eat. Listen to your body. Your body is so smart on what it needs and the kind of energy it needs. So just listen and focus on what makes you feel good as well and gives you the energy that you need.

I have done quite a few diets. One of them that I did was keto, and I have very mixed reviews on keto. I know a lot of people like it and a lot of people enjoy it, but keto is known to be like a short-term solution. It'll help you lose that kind of like water weight, like easily 5 to 10 pounds in a couple of weeks, and then you just easily gain it right back. So I really don't recommend keto for anyone. If anything, I would just recommend eating intuitively, eating like the 80-20, which is 80% healthy, 20% like, you know, a treat to yourself. But if anything, I highly like do not recommend keto like at all to anyone, because it can really just mess with your stomach and your just perception of how food is and how it should taste.

Alright, so one time I used keto, right, like I tried keto out, um, I needed to lose a few pounds and um, a buddy of mine did it and lost like a third of his mass, so it was pretty wild. I think the reason I liked it was just the simplicity, but ultimately I do think that the only reason it worked for me was because it, like I was in a calorie deficit, because I wasn't eating as many calories through sugars that I usually did. So, keto, not a fan, but I mean it is kind of easy to at least wrap your head around, so if you need something simple, maybe.

Something I've found important if you're wanting to lose weight or diet is to not do anything that makes you want to like hate your life. I believe that fitness is something that's supposed to enhance the joy you feel in your life by helping you be faster, stronger, healthier, feel better about yourself, and if your diet is just miserable and you hate it and it's terrible, you feel like you can't enjoy life, then stop doing it. I think you just do something that helps you still enjoy the foods you like while also taking good care of your body. I think there's a nice middle ground where you can be healthy but also not feel miserable about what you can and can't eat.

All you really need to eat is meat, some veggies, mostly meat, veggies, rice and drink lots of water and get plenty of exercise. If you do that you'll maintain your health for as long as you can until obviously you're too old or too broken that you can no longer do what you used to and then slowly you'll become a decrepit old man or woman but at least you knew that as long as you your young youthful vibrant individual was able to enjoy the most rewarding experiences in this life because you were not too out of shape to do so.

So there's a lot of diets out there. Honestly, I've been around a lot of different people with a bunch of different diets. Really what it comes down to is just cut down a little bit on the fast food and just eat a little bit more healthy in your normal diet. It doesn't have anything special, just more fruits and vegetables. I think people really overdo it a lot. I think that from what I've seen, if you just prepare your own food and add some more fruits and vegetables to it, you're going to be fine and that's a great way to diet. So I wouldn't go too extreme with it, really. As long as you're being active and eating healthy foods rather than just pure fast food, then you'll be fine with dieting.
