Treatments - Fibromyalgia Video Transcripts

So I hesitate to make like a recommendation just because there are lots of them out there. So the one recommendation I would make is to ensure that your doctor is going to explore those recommendations with you. Not just the one, not just this, not just that, but multiple different options. I'm not currently on medication specifically for fibromyalgia because I have some pretty serious medications for my anxiety, panic attacks, and my migraines, and I did not want to add more to the list. So I am using things like Tai Chi as a treatment, ballet stretches, which I've been doing for years, my TENS unit, which is an electronic therapy, as well as exploring massage if it's legal where you are, CBD. Just you want a number of different potential treatments because the same thing isn't going to work for everybody else.

Hi, the only treatment so far I found is a chiropractor which is really good which has helped me walk and pain management and of course I've got this cream and roll-on thing now from Herbs on the Hill which gives me a good night's sleep.

I tried acupuncture. I tried the gym. I tried swimming in a warm water pool at the gym. The warm water pool I was able to do. I had no pain while I was doing it, but the pain afterwards was kind of hard to deal with. Medicare paid for it, but they will only pay for so many and then you have to go in the gym and I am not able to do any work in the gym. I'm hoping after another 50 pounds of weight loss maybe I'll be able to work out a little bit, but right now my fibromyalgia is not conducive with exercise.

Treatments for fibromyalgia patients do vary from person to person, so I would tell you to make sure that you know that. All treatments for the various patients don't look the same. My neighbor and I both have fibromyalgia, but both of our treatment plans look completely different. My set of medications is completely different from hers and vice versa. So, there are two different doctors that see things completely different. My doctor's approach is more internal and believes that my condition is more based on the connective tissue and nerve pain, and hers different. So, I would just encourage you to meet with your doctor and let your doctor kind of determine where they think your pain is coming from, and they will help you determine what your treatment plan should look like.
