I am a reader, so in the beginning of my journey with Fibro, I read all the books from all the doctors. There are some very helpful groups on Facebook about fibromyalgia. What other people do, you can contact other people, they will get back to you. I try to use all the resources I can, but after 25 years, I've exhausted most of the reading and just count on being able to talk to people online, which helps.

The resources that I can suggest are if you're in need, you don't have the money, and you're in the U.S., don't be ashamed. Go to your local government and ask for assistance. Get the government assistance for insurance. I know it's a pain in the butt. Also, apply for Social Security. You may have to do it a couple times. I'm on round number four, and honestly, it's taking me a while to apply, and they bother you and bother you about it. But if you can work through it and get those benefits, every little bit helps.

You want to look for fibromyalgia resources really in as many American or even where your country, but medical associations as much as possible so that you know that you're getting good verifiable information from medical doctors that have studied fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia has not been something that doctors have studied for a very long time, but for those that have, there are doctors in schools that have really practiced and studied this for some time now. So you want to make sure that you really, really look for resources in those places so that you know that your information is good that you're using. You're not getting secondhand information from someone that just doesn't know what they're talking about. So verify your resources before you just take it from anybody.

A great resource for support are ESAs. I have my pup who has been with me for 12 years. She is a great support animal. She is just a general support animal, but ESAs can be trained for a multiple of symptoms and diagnoses. ESAs are covered under the Disabilities Act and if you rent or anything like that, your landlord cannot charge you any kind of pet fee and they have to accept them into the building where you're at. They're allowed on all kinds of transportation. They're allowed pretty much everywhere you go as long as they are trained. So look into that as a resource for you to help you out.

I have a book that is called Fibromyalgia Up Close and Personal by Mark J Pellegrino. My girlfriend has read it and swears by it and she yells at me all the time because I haven't read it. It tells you supplements you should use, you know, the food you should eat, and what is so wonderful about this book is, unfortunately, he has fibro, so he understands what we are going through. So again, it's Fibromyalgia Up Close and Personal by Mark J Pellegrino.
