Hi, don't know if this is an interesting fact or not, but if you feel you're having a flare-up, you need to rest and rest loads. Rest your body and your mind. Even if you're awake, just lie there and relax, because that will relieve some of the swelling in the part of the brain that swells with fibromyalgia, which causes the flare-ups. So what I like to do is just lie there in the dark room. Even if I can't sleep, just rest and relax your body. It helps.

Maybe it's not an interesting fact, maybe it's just me, but my skin can get really sensitive during a fibromyalgia flare-up and I'm using it as an excuse to redo my wardrobe. I am finally in my 30s discovering the style that I like and things that I enjoy and things that I want to wear and ways that I want to look and I am using my skin sensitivity and my pain to justify some shopping. If skin sensitivity is an issue for you, explore soft clothing. It's not just only some of the best clothing, but you can find some really cute clothing as well and they tend to be a little more sustainable when they're done correctly. So it's a win-win across the board. So yeah, explore clothing and have fun. Have fun with something that might otherwise just seem really frustrating and annoying.

Some of the more interesting facts about fibromyalgia I would say are just their linking to so many other illnesses or the fact that they can coincide with all the other illnesses. So I would just say that that's just interesting to me and the fact that it honestly can affect all of the various parts of your of your body. Honestly from head to toe to toe the likelihood that you can or the knowledge that you can just kind of feel this sharp pins and needles feeling at any point in time and it's not known when it can happen. Those kinds of things are alarming and to not know what that is at first is a very hurtful thing but nonetheless we know now so that's interesting.

I would like to talk about Dr. Terri Wall, W-A-H-L. If you look her up, she was a woman that had multiple sclerosis, a doctor at the VA, and she came up with this diet that really helped her get out of the wheelchair, and she's walking today. She is a big proponent of following her plan, it's paleo, to help with fibromyalgia. I will say before I was diagnosed that I did try the plan, just because I knew her through work, and I tell my husband I felt the best in my life when I was following that diet. So I realize now, because I'm in not as bad a shape as many, but I realize now I need to get off the sugar, off the carbs, and try and help myself, and follow a better diet. So Dr. Terri Wall, W-A-H-L, you can look her up online, you can get her book, pretty amazing story. Thanks.

Some interesting facts about fibromyalgia. You have to have underlying causes. Not only, there are usually five. Stress, some type of heart, some type of stress to the body, other autoimmune diseases, and sleep apnea. If you take care of those problems, have a healthy diet, and I don't mean popcorn and candy, I mean lean and green, you will do fine. Moderate amount of exercise, and you'll be fine. Thanks.

There is no actual test for fibromyalgia. It's pretty much diagnosed by ruling out everything else. So if someone tells you that you have to get tested for fibromyalgia, they're lying.

I don't know if this qualifies as an interesting fact or just as something that, I don't know, it just should be, there should be more about. And I think that's exercise. I love exercise. I've been very active my entire life, even if I don't necessarily look that way. As I've gotten older and I've had these flare-ups, which have been previously undiagnosed, being active has been a lot harder and I've had to give up a lot of the things that I really, really like. However, there are a lot of exercises that can be helpful with fibromyalgia that I have found. Tai Chi is one of the ones that I researched prior to my diagnosis and then my doctor recommended. I did Tai Chi as a child and I really loved it. And so getting back into it is incredibly helpful. And on that, I find yoga can be really intense for me sometimes, and I've never really enjoyed it. And Tai Chi has similar aspects. It's not the same at all, but similar aspects. And it's really helpful for me. I also partake in ballet stretches, which I also find really helpful.
