If your doctor orders a medication that your insurance won't cover, go and look up that medication online. You usually can contact the medication people and talk to them and they can offer ways to get that medication through their programs at a relatively cheap price and work with your doctor to get that way. Also, talk to your doctor about getting samples. Another good resource is GoodRx. In many cases, if my insurance doesn't cover a medication, I've been able to go on there and find the medication for a much lower price. Even though it's not the low price that my copay would be, it's still way lower than what I would pay out of pocket.

I don't think there's an easy way to save money when you have fibromyalgia. If you're on benefits, disability, it's hard. It's hard to live on just that. I'm lucky I'm in the UK. I work and receive a PIP, which is personal independence payment. There's not a lot out there for people suffering with fibromyalgia as there's not a lot of understanding what the condition is. It's not an illness. It's a condition and we need help, same as any other person that is disabled. We have a disability. It's not seen, but believe me, we feel it every day and it gets harder every day. Just take every health benefit you can. You've worked up until now. You earned it. Get the help you deserve.
