When we started our magazine publishing company, I read an article in Inc. Magazine, and it describes a startup company that ended up failing as they had a big hat, no cattle. They're trying to look like a big rancher, but they actually have no cattle. And I didn't want to be that way. I wanted to have maybe small hat, lots of cattle. So I wanted to grow my business that way. Now, the statistics will tell you that businesses fail. And they'll tell you that the top two businesses that fail are magazines and restaurants. And I was starting one of those, but statistics don't have to matter. What matters is you, your idea, your hard work, your network, your connections, and your ability to weather the storm. So you can read statistics and they can inspire you just like the big hat, no cattle did to me, but then decide that you're going to be the statistic that you want to be and change the world in a way that you want it to be changed. And that's the only statistic that matters.

So our founder and CEO came from managing a Baskin-Robbins here in Orem, Utah. So our product was very much designed with restaurants in mind because of that, again, that background. But what was so fun and interesting fact is that our first paying customer was actually Young Family Dental here in Utah. And so it's like, what does a dental office have anything to do with restaurants? And so that kind of changed our mindset at Jolt where it's like, we're not just selling software to restaurants. We have built our product in such a way that's so flexible that if you have employees, it's really like an employee management tool to help your day-to-day task management. And so really any business with employees could use our product. And it was kind of just cool to see that come to fruition by having our very first paying customer be a dentist office. So kind of a fun fact.
