One of the most memorable issues of my magazine included two people that I'll never forget. First was Larry King, and he was on the cover of our magazine. He has passed away, but he was the world's best interviewer and had interviewed every celebrity you can imagine. The night before our interview, I watched him interview Hillary Clinton, and he treated her with such respect and interest. And I was a little bit nervous because I was kind of a nobody doing an interview with him the next day. But when we connected on our interview, he treated me the exact same way that he treated Hillary Clinton. And I respected that, and I appreciated that. I felt a connection with him. I felt a respect for him that I wasn't expecting. And so that was a really good leadership experience for me to treat every potential person I meet, whether they're going to subscribe or advertise or apply for a job or not, that I should show them the same respect that Larry King showed me.

A very inspirational story that is really just the foundation of what we've done here at Jolt is winning McDonald's. They did a big, what's called a RFP, where they invited 16 companies to participate. And to be honest, when it started, we had no business winning this because we didn't have the solution they needed. And we had about three months to get it done. So what we did is we came back to our office and went into what's called McDonald's mode. So we rallied our entire company and said, if we're going to win McDonald's, we have to do X, Y, and Z. And X, Y, and Z were huge. But man, did our development team really pull through and the entire company to win that. And we went from 16 down to being the two finalists. And McDonald's does a thing where they always go with two vendors. And so to be able to go from 16 down to two without having the solution at the beginning was just awesome. We have a value here called breakthrough walls. And man, we had to break through a ton of walls to make that happen. But winning a large contract like that has been one of the greatest events.

I wrote a book several years ago called Networking Your Way to the Top, Six Essential Principles. And so I go and I talk about the six timeless principles for networking your way to the top of any organization. And the first one that you need to remember is to think first of other people. When you go to that conference or that convention, look around, don't think of what you need, but look and listen to other people and what they need to grow themselves and their company. And if you'll go out of your way to go and help them, the law of reciprocity will set in. And as the law of reciprocity sets in, they will intuitively have a desire to give back to you. So think first of other people. And as you do that, it's going to build a successful company for you. Good luck. Take care.
