Causes - Endometriosis Video Transcripts

So endometriosis is caused when the tissue in your uterus goes out of the side of the uterus and attaches to other parts of your body. It can get out via either the nervous system or the lymphatic system. I believe if it grows over a nerve, that is when you get a lot of pain. They found mine attached to my bowel and caused a bowel obstruction. Each time I got my period, my tissue outside of the uterus bled too and it started to stick my bowel together. So that was what caused my bowel obstruction was endometriosis and the fact that the endometrial tissue outside of my uterus was bleeding and sticking together. So that is one of the causes of endometriosis.

Endometriosis is caused when tissue that normally lines the uterus grows outside of the uterus and this tissue then sheds and bleeds and can create really painful lesions. This is typically found in the pelvic region, but it can be found on other organs and parts of the body. Typically, endometriosis is hereditary. There are genetics that are involved, so usually you'll have someone in your family line or a close family member or relative that also experiences endometriosis, but there isn't really any lifestyle effects or causes that make endometriosis more likely to happen.

Endometriosis is when the tissue that normally lines your uterus grows outside of your uterus but because it's no longer in your uterus it doesn't have a way to exit your body. Therefore because it's trapped it causes numerous health issues and concerns that are quite painful. Anything from scar tissue, cysts on your ovaries, adhesions where I personally had where my ovaries were stuck to my pelvic wall that have to be removed only by surgery.
