I think some of the more inspirational stories for me in dermatology is seeing patients that are born with chronic challenging skin conditions and so there's a number of these but some of the ones that I saw during my residency training were epidermolysis bullosa. There's a variety of forms but there's some that are pretty severe and called dystrophic, meaning they kind of change your skin and your hands and feet such that like you start to lose the spaces in between your fingers and you have blisters that never heal and so just these people for their whole lives have really been in a lot of pain and suffering but at the same time they're able to you know make the most of their life and remarkably are upbeat and positive and these are the people that inspire me to to take care of them but also medicine as a whole to help us come up with better treatments and options for them so that they can have the best quality of life possible.
