Some of my favorite aspects of dermatology is that it allows a life outside of dermatology, outside of medicine. You don't have call, you don't have emergency room duties, and it's very rare that I have to go in to see a patient in the hospital other than during regular hours, nine to five.

One of my favorite aspects of dermatology is the wide variety of skin conditions that we see and the broad spectrum of ages from newborns that have skin conditions or birthmarks to elderly patients that have dealing with skin cancer or any variety of skin issues. It's a really good mix. There's also a lot of satisfaction that you get from helping somebody with a skin problem, whether it's a skin cancer that you can cut out and remove or a chronic skin condition like psoriasis or eczema that you can help make better. There's a lot of conditions that really can be treated with good dermatologic care and that's really satisfying and fulfilling.
