Culture tips

Video 1 - Transcription

The culture in Costa Rica is like really, really laid back. I'm sure you've heard of Pura Vida. It means pure life. That's like their motto there. And so they're really laid back about a lot of stuff. And so like, I guess when you're talking to them, it's important that you can, I guess, relate to that. Just know that it's a little hard to get them to take things seriously because they have that laid back kind of attitude, but they're really nice and they're really caring. They also love their novelas. If you know at least a little bit about novelas, you'll always have a good conversation starter with the families. They also love their soccer. It's always good to know a little bit about that. And yeah, the best way to, I guess, adapt their culture is just like be willing to talk to everyone because they love talking to you.

Always be sure that you're being very polite and very aware of your surroundings because like any other country you would go to, people have different, you know, customs and something that we do in our countries might not be appropriate in their countries or might be disrespectful. Just always be careful, make sure that you're being as polite as you can be and people will really appreciate that and treat you with the same respect that you treat them with.
