Now in terms of outdoor activities, there is a ton of nature around Rexburg, just outside of town. And with the Campus Outdoor Store, if I remember correctly, well while I was there, it was located just behind the stadium or just next to the stadium in the parking lot or underneath the bleachers. And you can rent equipment there, be it bicycles, be it I think you can even rent canoes, and you can just go out into nature and have a great time. Or you can stay on campus. I remember one time that this was during the pandemic, where there was an opportunity to just exercise, distance, you know, safely distanced on the stadium grounds. And that was an afternoon that I actually DJ'd for that, so that was extra fun for me. But yeah, tons of outdoor activities.

The nice thing with BYU-Idaho and Rexburg in general is that you don't have to drive far and you're in nature. And with the campus outdoor rental shop that, if I remember correctly well back when I was there, it was just beneath the campus bleachers, the stadium bleachers. And so you could rent bicycles, you could rent, I think you could even rent canoes, like they had a lot of stuff that you could rent and then take out in nature and enjoy nature. But you didn't want to go that far, you could stay on campus. There's a beautiful park area where you can sit around, walk around, you know, read, study, socialize. A little pizza oven in the park as well, although I've never seen anyone use it. There's the stadium that, depending on the situation, you might even have activities where you can just exercise in the sun on the campus, on the stadium green. There's a lot of stuff you can do. Take my word for it.

Alright, there is so much to do outside in Rexburg or in the surrounding areas. I love frisbee golfing, disc golfing, so there's two courses around here that you can play on. There's also pickleball courts. I don't play, but I know a lot of people do. There's two golf courses. I like to golf. Super fun. There's hikes everywhere. You can walk next to the river. You can walk around a park. You can go two hours to the east and go up to the Tetons. The Alaska Basin Trail is right up there just before you get to Driggs. Whatever you want to do, honestly, so easy to go outside and to have fun here. You just gotta go out and do it. That's really it.

For outdoor activities near BYU-Idaho, I definitely recommend hiking as I'm sure a lot of people will, but there's lots of really good hikes that are within an hour of campus. So find a friend with a car or carpool with a bunch of people and go on a hike and find out how beautiful the Idaho can be.

I was really into spikeball. There's a discord group for spikeball that I found with some people who are really good at spikeball. For example, one of the girls that I played with, she's top 10 in the world, and her boyfriend that she's dating is also really good. Them two and a couple and a few other people that I was with in the discord chat, they got me pretty good. I'm not like, not like crazy good, but they got me a lot better because I was playing with them. But regardless, spikeball is such a great activity to do outside when you're at BYU-Idaho.

I think my favorite outdoor activity in Rexburg is going out to the dunes and having a bonfire. You can do it even in the winter because the fire keeps you warm, and it's just so much fun to go out with friends and look at the stars and tell stories and have fun.

I think it's still called OLC Outdoor Learning Center and they have the ropes course and they actually have date nights and so this could be date night, this could be outdoor activities, this could be anything. Just get in contact. I think it's still, I actually don't even remember his name, but he's in the activities center and ask for Thornton. I think it's a Brother Thornton. They have lots of opportunities and go to Get2Connected and they will get you in contact with those people so that you can do the outdoor stuff on campus. A lot of times it's free if you're in an activity and sometimes you can just do it with the groups that are doing it. Sometimes your classes will go to this ropes course. You'll see it over at the soccer fields and baseball fields.

Rexburg has a lot to offer for outdoor activities from rock climbing to mountain biking, hiking, camping. The best place to go for resources for that would be the Outdoor Resource Center or the Activity Center and talk to the Outdoor Activities Club.

It used to be that across the street from the Smith, there's an apartment complex called the Riviera, and directly east of that is a very tiny little outdoor area that the school owns. It's graveled out, and it's just got some barbecue pits and some tables, and there's almost never anyone there, and it's awesome.

In the snow time, there's many activities to do. In the winter time, whenever it's not as windy, plenty of time. If it's hot, plenty of time. Fall, there's plenty of time. It's up to you. Are you creative or are you just dull?

Best outdoor activities. Going to the sand dunes and doing a bonfire or just sledding down the sand is a lot of fun. Going to the lake when it's low or high in the summer is fantastic. One of my favorite like low-key daytime things was to go to Porter Park and just lay out and get some sun or read, get some homework done. Those are my favorite things.

There's lots of stuff to do around Rexburg, especially if you have someone with a car, but you don't have to. You can go camp and stuff at Eagle Park, just like a mile or two north of campus. We used to always go and float at Warm Slough by the Henry Fork River. Beaver Dick Pond is pretty fun. There's the ice caves and everything. There's the civil defense caves, which are really fun. There's lots of stuff to go and do around this 14-mile cave and all sorts of fun stuff to do. You don't just have to get stuck in town and choose to be bored. You can go make a lot of fun. All the sand dunes, Egan Sand Dunes, those are a blast.

Porter Park is a great place to do outdoor activities. There's a lot of people that go over there to play frisbee or spike ball or soccer. There's a playground over there for little kids if you want to do that. There's also a lot of trees so you can also do hammocks over there. If you want to do something outdoors, I highly suggest checking out Porter Park. There's also the sand dunes that's over by there if you want to have a campfire or if you want to go sledding in the winter. That's another good opportunity.

Rexburg has so many amazing outdoor places to go nearby. There's Our Mountain, there's the Sand Dunes nearby, you can go up to Island Park or a little bit further away you can go to Yellowstone. There's also Jackson Hole which is not too far away. There's a lot of great outdoors options and then many more, you know, closer by that are less known. There are many locals who can point you in the right direction if you want to go hiking or skiing or do something aquatic.

There is an outdoor activity center on campus. It's up by the football fields and they rent out a lot of really cool stuff like kayaks and all that kind of cool stuff. I never took advantage of any of that and I am kind of regretting that I didn't. The sand dunes are really close and those are really cool. I didn't ever get the opportunity to go to that but a lot of students will go there and do bonfires in the winter and just some really fun stuff. And then also Yellowstone is really close and I regret that I did not take the opportunity to go to Yellowstone because it's within a couple hour drive and it's a really great beautiful place and there's a lot of really cool stuff to do there. Obviously don't get close to the buffalo but go to Yellowstone while you're up in Rexburg because it's close and you might not have the opportunity to go back to it after you leave Rexburg. So I think it's a really great opportunity. Take advantage of Rexburg and of all of the hikes and all that kind of fun stuff around there but also go to the sand dunes and take the opportunity to go to Yellowstone. Don't be like I did and not do those things and then regret it later.

If you go to BYU-Idaho, you must make a pilgrimage to the sand dunes. It's required.

You have to go do the wind caves, the civil defense caves, do all the caves, lots of caving, it's so fun. Find a friend that has a jeep and can off-road and take you to the caves because they're super cool. There's also lots of climbing, there's a climbing gym which is super fun, but if you want to go outside there's bouldering, you'll find people. Lots of people like this slack line. I love Porter Park specifically for longboarding. It's a great place to longboard, it's super fun. There's hiking, I think the Snake River is the one nearby and in the summertime you can float along that lazy river, but there's also some park grounds and bonfires and the dunes. There are so many activities, so get involved especially if you want to go hang out and have fun. I suggest going early for the fall semester.

Three of the best outdoor activities are the BYUI ropes course, Crest Creek Nature Trail, and Rexburg Farmer's Market.
