You will want to go swimming. You'll want to go to the gym. You'll want to do the ziplining course. You'll want to go dancing. You'll want to go paintballing, snowmobiling, sledding, skiing. Anything and everything you can do. Most importantly, take some self-defense courses. It helps with discipline and healthier mindset.

So you have the intramural sports. Now you can join with a group of your friends, whatever sport you like. You can do it within your ward or you can join a team that needs more players. So that is one of the ways that I met new people and I enjoyed it because I love playing sports. Now, if you don't really like sports, there's other activities that you could do, outdoor activities, and they're not that expensive. You could go kayaking, you could go hiking, you could go to a Zumba retreat. The BYU-Idaho has their own camp outside of the school. So I would, there's so many things within and out. There's concerts that you can attend too. The piano guys have come, Alex Boye, Matt Kearney. There are just, just look for the flyers. Most of the time they're free and if they're not free, they're inexpensive. So please utilize all those.

So my last semester at BYUI, I actually broke into two semesters part-time, um, so that I could fit in an internship and a job and things like that. I figured, well, while I'm here and things are cheap through the school, um, I should do some of these outdoor activities that they kind of have going on through, like, if they still have I Belong and stuff like that, because they always had a bunch of those. And so it was cool to, like, get to know, like, winter activities in the area. And often these are, like, $10 or something, when usually the rentals would be, like, a little more than that, but then you also get, like, a guide and things like that. Um, anyway, so for example, one time I went what's called airboarding, which is basically, like, a sled that is, like, blow up and it just goes a little faster. And so they took us to, like, this really cool hill that we, like, I think we snowshoed out to and stuff. Anyway, and it's just nice. You get really cool views and stuff because they know the right areas.

I, you know, get to attend, you know, country dancing on campus every Wednesday night. It is a whole, whole lot of fun. They do instruction time like around 7 p.m., you know, where you get to learn dances that you do during country dancing such as triple threat, cowboy cha-cha, etc. Another extracurricular activity that I like to do every Sunday is attend stadium singing where a bunch of BYUI students gather together and they sing hymns.

Laser tag, so much fun. There's country dancing, there's ballroom dancing. There's an archery tag, which is pretty fun. If you get involved with the adaptive rec sports, those are a blast. And there's also rock climbing. Utilize the ORC. There's a lot of fun stuff. You can just rent from there and have a lot of fun with it.

When I was there every, I think, Sunday, they would do stadium singing. You'd go to behind the outdoor resource center that we're seeing, underneath the stadium, and they'd sing hymns. And with the acoustics, it was really, really neat. It was pretty fun. Good thing to go do.

So my favorite extracurricular activities was doing intramural sports. I loved playing as a teammate. I had the opportunity to coach a couple times and that was a lot of fun. Getting involved in as many activities and events as possible will really enhance your college experience and it's just another great way to meet new people and to enjoy your time.

The good thing with extracurricular activities at BYU-Idaho is that the university themselves, or its employees, plan quite a bunch. Like, I mean, my two favorite ones were bowling in the student center building, the MC building, as I've nicknamed it, as a lot of people nicknamed it, and also the weekly, bi-weekly, sometimes three times a week, roller skating, also in the MC building, in the ballroom at the time. And, okay, I have a vested interest. I used to DJ for those, but I was also able to skate, got to meet a lot of cool people, mostly students on campus, but some people from the community as well, and had a great time, great social time. So there are a lot of opportunities on campus for extracurricular activities.

Okay, I hope they keep doing this, but they won't if they don't get people to attend, and so that's why I'm going to point it out. But everybody knows about country dancing and Latin dancing at the school, right? And they have places outside of the school as well that do them because they're so, so, so popular. But when I was there, at least, they had other kinds of dancing too. So, like, check out to see if there's other things. Like, it's nice to go to one of those places where you know, like, you'll probably see the people you know or whatever, or I don't know, you'll always meet new people. But some of these smaller dancing groups, I guess, at the school that were, like, the same price, um, are just a lot more, like, smaller, more intimate, and so you can make, like, good friends with them and stuff. But they had, like, East Coast Swing and things like that. That was the one I wish I got better at. But they just had, like, a lot more, I guess, niche kinds of dancing. They had, like, hip-hop and stuff, and one time I learned how to do the wave.

I am a really big supporter of extracurricular activities here at BYU-Idaho. I did a lot of sports and other activities on campus, but highly recommend doing any sports. Whether you're good or not, you don't have to be. It's just a really fun time and you make such good friends.

On the BYUI website, there's access to a whole bunch of activities, and there's also this app called BYUI Belong. Make sure to download that app because it gives a calendar of everything that's going on, and there's a lot. My favorite was the ropes course. It's only like five bucks as a student, and it's definitely worth more than that. It's awesome. It's really fun.
