Why I love BYU - Brigham Young University Video Transcripts

One of my favorite things about BYU is just the opportunity you have to learn about secular things and with a mix of religious things at the same time that you can be in a biology class and you can be learning about how God created the earth and how God created us. I think it's so cool that we don't have to divide those two things but that we can unite them and we can use them to add upon each other and to learn together and it's cool the spirit that is in the classroom as we learn that I really have seen such an impact that the spirit can help me learn Heavenly Father wants us to learn things and so he helps us in our classes as we invite him and the spirit into our classes.

BYU feels safe. BYU feels like a place where you are able to express questions. BYU feels like a place where you're able to walk around, like physical safety, but also emotional safety, intellectual safety. It's okay to ask questions. It's okay to interact with and talk with people here. That's something I love about this. It feels safe. It feels like you're going to have a good time every time that you step on campus, which I really love.

BYU is an awesome place because, you know, if you're part of the church, you're just like surrounded by other like-minded individuals and, you know, just like the community is awesome. I love the professors. Professors and academics are awesome as well. And yeah, it's just really, there's a lot of opportunities. I feel like I, from what I've heard from other people, I feel like I have a better college experience here at BYU than other places.

I love BYU because it is super pretty and I like when I walk up to campus every day and I see the mountains and everyone here is also very nice and friendly.

Truly one of the things I loved most about my BYU experience was that there wasn't a line separating the secular learning from the spiritual. You had professors that would weave in the gospel no matter what subject they were teaching. I was an accounting major, and to even have lectures that integrated gospel principles into whatever was your I just absolutely loved. Not having to pretend like it's not an integrated whole was wonderful.

I love BYU because it takes spirituality and education and combines them into one. I am someone who I like to think of myself as very spiritual and I love the focus on how we learn by study and also by faith. I genuinely love it. I love that I get to go to class and pray before I learn. I love that my teachers share quotes from apostles and prophets. I love that I get to walk around campus and be surrounded by people who are trying to be like Jesus and trying their best in whatever way that looks like and I just think it's super awesome to be a part of a school that promotes faith and education simultaneously.

I love how the teachers and everyone, like teachers and faculty, are so open to inviting the spirit into whatever class you're in. It makes it so much easier to understand and to be able to express yourself and make relationships with your teachers, which I think is super important in an education. So that's why I love BYU. I also love BYU because it feels like we're all a family, like everyone on the football team to the basketball team to track team or whatever it is to just students. We all feel like I feel super involved and I feel genuinely like cared about and seen.
Video 8 Transcript
Another reason I love BYU is just because everyone here is so nice and friendly. I don't think I've met a single person in any of my classes who isn't willing to talk to me and ask me about my day or just give me a smile. And so everyone here is truly so nice and welcoming and I wouldn't want to be surrounded by anyone else.

This question is really easy for me because I love BYU and I'm so glad I chose to go here. My family, both my parents graduated from BYU so it's, BYU's just always been our favorite team. I love, or school, I love BYU because I love first it through the church because I think it's so cool to be able to have all my, all aspects of my life connected and I love, I love that I'm able to find such good people here and I know you can find good people at any school but I feel like especially at BYU it's super easy. Everyone's really, really nice. I love all the sports teams and the games are so fun. It, I think it's really easy to get involved here and I love that although the classes are super hard I know I'm getting a good education and I feel really good when I do well on the test because I know I worked hard to get it so yeah, I love BYU.

I love BYU because of the people that I met and the experiences that I had. I'm super grateful to have been able to get an education there. I have such fond memories there. I still have dear and lasting friendships from BYU and above and above all of those is my husband. I met my husband at BYU and so BYU will always be a favorite place of mine, a favorite time span of mine, and I will always bleed blue. Go Cougs!

I love BYU because BYU encourages you not to take the easy way out and I feel like this is just kind of the way I've led my life. Like I just like to do things that that challenge me, that help me to grow and though sometimes it's kind of silly how difficult the academics are at BYU, I really do treasure how challenged I am and how stretched I am because it is in those moments that that I truly grow and I think it's continued to help lead my life to kind of just put my put my head down and go to work and and do my best. There's not take the easy way out so I really love BYU for that.
Video 12 Transcript
I love BYU because of how invested the professors are. I'm slightly biased but I feel like I have the best major on campus. I'm a global supply chain student and the professors do an amazing job of preparing you for the real world but also being personally invested in your success. The supply chain students are ranked as one of the happiest students on campus and the professors really do an amazing job and that's true of every major. Usually professors at high-end universities are hired for their research but at BYU they're hired for both their research and their teaching ability. So make sure you're taking advantage of those professors. They do an incredible job of caring about you and teaching you the best way that you can be taught.
Video 13 Transcript
One reason I love BYU is because here I have the opportunity to study with people that share the same standards as I do. People that are all, for the most part, all Latter-day Saints. And it's a great opportunity to make friends and form relationships.

Okay, I love BYU because of the campus. It's so beautiful and I love walking up every day and seeing the mountains and it's like everywhere you look it's just so pretty and also I like just the community like everyone's kind and friendly and nice. It's easy to meet.

I love BYU because all of my friends are here and my husband is here, but also because they talk about God in their classes.

I love BYU for a variety of reasons, one of them being is the amazing education I get for such a low cost. I'm really grateful that I have a subsidized tuition because of full tithe payers and I have the opportunity to work closely with amazing faculty who care about the students at BYU and because of that my education is enlarged and it really is just an amazing experience.
Video 17 Transcript
There's nowhere in the world I feel like quite like BYU. You have the opportunity to be really challenged in your academics. Take very, very challenging classes, but always with an emphasis on gospel learning and the spirit. Even in classes that I'm in, such as computer science, we'll start class with a prayer or even a spiritual thought, and I just think that's something very unique. You can learn both spiritually, temporally, and I think combined, combining all that together is what makes it just an amazing place.

I love the atmosphere of BYU. Everybody here is so kind, so willing to help. The environment, the beautiful scenery, this campus is stunning. And the fact that this campus is centered on the gospel just adds a special element to it. When your studies are focused on Christ, when your life is fully focused on Christ, it just makes life better. I feel like I'm happier. I feel like I'm more engaged in my learning and can get more out of a lesson when I'm centering it on Christ. And I love that BYU focuses so heavily on that. My professors care about me and I was always told that wasn't going to be the case, but at BYU they do care about you. And that's another thing I really do love. So BYU is pretty great and I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to come here.

So why I love BYU is just the environment that you're in. All the people that you're surrounded by, they have so many, they have great and challenging goals and they aspire to be better people, to do good and to be good in the world and that helps me and inspires me to do the same. So that's why I love BYU.

Something I love about BYU is how each class opens up with a prayer. It's just a really good way to invite the spirit into each class and I love how I have that like extra spiritual strength throughout my day in each class.
Video 21 Transcript
I love BYU because of the camaraderie that is there. That you can get people from all over the world with different backgrounds and you can come together and you can learn together. My favorite part was learning from people who had completely different backgrounds from me, but we learned and we grew together and we became better people because we shared experiences with each other.
Video 22 Transcript
One of the reasons I love BYU is because it's super affordable and tuition is way cheaper compared to many other universities around.
Video 23 Transcript
BYU is such like a special place. It's hard to describe it to people who don't have the opportunity to go there or don't know a lot about the university. It's just, it's different than other universities. I mean, you're all there working together, you know, whether you're in classes, working on projects, or even just at the library, like there's almost just like this sense of camaraderie where it's just like, hey, we're in this together. And like, yeah, fine, I'll suck, and this is hard, but if you need help, someone can help you. Or if you need advice on something, there is someone who is willing to take the time to help you out. So take advantage of that. You don't have to do this alone. Reach out to other people, and you could make friends that will stick with you for the rest of your life.
Video 24 Transcript
I love BYU because it's just a great environment. If you're looking for a place where you can find like-minded and, you know, people that share your values and your faith and get a great education for an affordable price, BYU is the place. It's not perfect, you know, nowhere is. So, you know, I just, I think it's, there are a lot of people that genuinely care about what they do and super friendly environment, super clean environment. So yeah, highly recommend it.
Video 25 Transcript
Really just the culture of BYU. I think that that has a really big effect on the people here and there's always people smiling, there's always people eager to help and happy to help in anything that you have going on. People are always looking for service and they're always looking to lend a hand in any way they can, not out of their own personal gain but just to really help others to have a good experience. I've been on the receiving end and I realize how fulfilling it is to be on the giving end of that as well and it's really just this universal cycle at BYU of just showing love, showing kindness and showing inclusion that's really helped me to love BYU.
Video 26 Transcript
I love BYU because I met the man that I ended up marrying there and I met all of my absolute best friends in college. My high school friends, they're still wonderful people, but we're not quite as close. I think the opportunity to really make friendships for life really does happen when you get to college and so those will always be my most fondest memories of BYU, in addition to the wonderful education and classes and all the socializing, but getting to make those relationships that are still a huge part of my life, big plus.
Video 27 Transcript
I was a transfer student to BYU. I came from a different university and hands down the thing I love the very most about BYU is the environment. You're just surrounded with wholesome people, not that there were not good people at the other university I attended, but there were just so many good, wholesome, kind people at BYU and that hands down was the reason I loved it the very most. It was easy to make friends, people were social, the professors were friendly, and I appreciated the language that they used when they taught. The other university I attended, not all professors used maybe the most appropriate language, so it was a very kind of a wholesome relief when I came to BYU and I loved that part of it and just my favorite part is just the happy, uplifting feeling that exists there.
Video 28 Transcript
Why wouldn't I love BYU? I guess that's my question. I love it here, it's so fun. The people are so diverse and there's so many different opportunities to meet people. The professors I've had so far are all very understanding, very helpful, and they want you to succeed. And that's something that I value a lot, people who actually want to see me succeed, not just get their job done. Also, campus is beautiful. I'm from Texas, so seeing the mountains, being able to look out my window and see snow-capped mountains is awesome, and I love it. Just the best college overall.
Video 29 Transcript
I love BYU for a number of reasons. One of the great things about BYU is that you get an opportunity to have a spiritual education on top of your secular education. And so a lot of the classes are based around the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. And for members, it's a really nice place to go to be able to learn more about that, learn more about your values and how to interact with the world with those values and still have great relationships with people of different faiths and different beliefs. And BYU is just a great place to learn that foundation to help you in the world.
Video 30 Transcript
One of the reasons I love BYU is just the professors. The professors are so passionate about what you do. I have yet to meet a professor I don't love and really like they're so good in their field, they're so expertise and really what they teach you is like what you'd be getting at an ivy league school and like I know every university says that but like for real with BYU the education is so it's just amazing like you've got these passionate professors that could be away at Stanford, Harvard but they're choosing to be at BYU because they love the school, they love the church, different things like that. So really take advantage of like really being engaged in your classes, don't skip. Like I love BYU for my professors, how real they were and a lot of them give spiritual insights that I've really taken to heart so that's one of the reasons I love BYU.
