Okay, I'm a huge trip person, so I'd have to say, number one trips, go to Bryce Canyon or Antelope Island or head up to Lava Hot Springs. They're some really close places, they're not that far of a drive, put your friends in a car, go have fun. In the winter, I would recommend more Lava Hot Springs so you don't die of the cold.

Provo is so fun because it's so close, well not so close, but it's closer to all the cool southern Utah stuff you can do. So like a lot of other students, I have also taken advantage of our spring day or other random breaks like Presidency Weekend to go to St. George or national parks like Zion's. I remember on spring day my freshman year, I drove down with all of my friends to Zion's National Park and we hiked Angels Landing. It was super fun. A lot of UIU students do this, so it's usually pretty packed with everyone who goes to school here, but it is nice that it's only a few hour drive.

A great weekend trip in the Provo, Utah area is to drive up to the Uinta Mountains. Lots of the trails up there have almost no one on them, and so you can hike around, camp at the lakes, go fishing. Beautiful place.

So the nice thing about being in Utah is there are just so many awesome things to do for a weekend trip. So don't waste your weekends. They can be really fun. Yes, sometimes you need to study, but especially if you're in Provo over spring and summer, which I would highly recommend to do, utilize your weekends. There's so much great camping, hiking, activities, so many cool things that you can go do. And especially when it gets really cold in like March and you're like, what do I do for spring break or spring day? Because you know, you know how it'd be. Anyways, go to St. George, just go somewhere south, go to the heat. It's totally worth it. It's not that expensive. You can camp places for free if you really know where you're looking. So just go get away some of the weekends. It really helps break up the monotony of college.

Honestly, any of the parks in southern Utah, Zions, Escalante, you know, Moab, any of the stuff, or Canyonlands, it's all cool. Just, you're here. Go do it. You'll never regret it.

Oh, good weekend trip idea is Yellowstone. It's not too far. My friends did that last semester and it was super fun. We like all drove down. We booked up a campsite for like super cheap and then we did Yellowstone in like a day and it was so fun.

The best weekend trip idea that I've ever gone on is going to Arches so you get just a group of get just a group of people together and one car drive down all the way to Arches spend the day there and just drive back up super fun

You can go to Southern Utah. There's some really cool national parks down there. You can go hiking. You can also go skiing. There's a few ski resorts here close during the winter.

I would say a fun weekend trip that you can take from BYU would be to go to Park City. There's a lot to do, there's a lot to do year-round. If you like to ski it's really fun in the winter or in the summer there's fun activities that they have at the ski resorts as well as fun shops and places to eat.

Since being at BAU, I've done a few different weekend trips. I served my mission in Denver, Colorado, so I visited there a few times over the weekend. We would drive after school on Friday and then hang out there the rest of Friday if we had time, Saturday, Sunday, and then we'd head back Sunday night. Or if our schedule worked out, we didn't have classes Mondays, we would head back Mondays. But you can also always go to the Grand Canyon, or if it's still warm you can do Lake Powell, things like that. You're so close to so many amazing places.

You could go up to Midway or Heber and get a little place and just go sledding or like chill up there or even go into like one of the ski resort places close and then just doing like a ski weekend or drive to St. George and stay there. Close places that are super fun or do Las Vegas in a day.

One of my favorite weekend trips is to go down to Moab. I remember the first semester that I started at BYU, me and some friends got like a Motel 6 like 30 minutes outside of Moab and then just spent all day in the park and it was a ton of fun.

Go to the dunes, it's fun, a little Sahara. Go to the salt flats!

A weekend trip idea is to go to Zion's because it's only three and a half hours away from Provo and so you can just go.

The best part about BYU is that it's super close to plenty of fun stuff to do on the weekends, so my advice is just to go up in the mountains and just find something to do. There's always something to do in the mountains.

Something fun about living in Provo is that you're kind of in a good central place for a lot of cool weekend trips that you could potentially go on. A few that I've been on in the past couple of years, Bear Lake up in northern Utah, also up to Logan just for like a day trip. I'm also down to St. George which is super pretty and a few trips to California and like once to Big Bear for a ski trip and once just to the beach. And so and those were all driving so if you wanted to fly you could go anywhere but you're really in the best place for a ton of awesome quick trips.

We all know it's kind of nice to get out of Provo every once in a while, so I would definitely recommend going to St. George. It's not a far drive and there's a lot to do down there. Someone you know probably has like a house or a cabin, condo type thing down there or knows someone who does. If not, VRBO, if you have enough people, is like super affordable because you can just split the cost. But yeah, there's just so much to do. You can even take a day and go up to Zion's National Park and do a hike up there and just enjoy the natural beauty. There's lots of good places to eat, lots to go see. The temple down there is so beautiful and so amazing, especially the new one. So yeah, that's what I would recommend.

The weekend trip that I love doing is going to St. George, especially in the winter time. It's so nice to go down there and get a little bit of warmer weather and sunshine. And there's some really cheap Airbnbs down there that you can stay with friends. It's super fun and there's also a lot of fun hikes and everything.
Video 19 Transcript
There's some sand dunes down to the southwest of BYU and then obviously there's the salt flats. That's about a two to three hour drive up north and then any of the national parks, you know, Zions is probably a five hour drive from BYU. Arches, same thing. There's tons to do in American Fork Canyon and Spanish Fork Canyon.

All of those ski resorts that are beautiful during the winter are also a lot of fun during the summer. They've got hiking trails, mountain biking, and a great place to stay is Brighton. I love staying up in the Brighton area.
