If you're looking to get around Utah, I guess, or just like, or you want to just stay in the area around BYU, obviously the bus system is your best option if you don't have a car. It's free, you just gotta tap on, tap off. And yeah, it runs, the bus comes around like every 15 minutes or so, so if you miss one, don't worry, there's another one coming soon. But yeah, if you're, also if you're looking to go up to Salt Lake and you don't have a car, obviously you can ask people for rides if you know people who have one. But you can also ride the front runner, which I really recommend. I do that a lot, especially to go to the airport. They have like a direct connection from the bus to the front runner, to the tracks that lead to the airport. So if you're looking for any transportation, just use the public transportation. It's honestly the best way.

Live as close as possible to campus as you can and then enjoy walking. Walking actually really is really fun, feels good and you're going to be you're going to be able to focus better. If you want to get a wild lot pass and drive to campus you you have certain windows it's between like maybe you know seven to nine that you'll get a spot or after like three.

Okay, unpopular transportation tip. Go to a used medical supply store, buy yourself a boot and a knee scooter. You can now get from one end of campus to the other in about five minutes.

I actually don't have a car up here, so I feel like this is something that I was really nervous about when I first came up, but like almost everything is within walking distance that like I've ever wanted to need to, like everything on campus is obviously walking distance, and then even there's like Target, Chipotle, or Target, Chick-fil-a, Cafe, or Costa Vida. There's like a lot of restaurants nearby, canes, all of that, and so anything that you need is really within walking distance. There's even like a CVS super close if you get sick and you need medicine. The creameries are all really close, so I have not had a lot of trouble like needing a car up here. Worst things worse, I have used like the bus, the transportation system that they have where you can just scan your BYU ID and it's free, so that's also another way that you can get around.

I have learned to love walking as a co-op student and it actually is really nice. I mean at BYU you can walk everywhere and oftentimes you're living 10 minutes off campus and have to walk kind of those 10 minutes to class back and forth but walking is kind of like time to just decompress and not have to think about anything which is kind of nice. But I have found there have been lots of times where I have different things going on south campus and I have to get to north campus really fast. That is a pretty long trek to get from like the Marb to where Heritage Halls is and so the UVX has been super helpful especially with that kind of distance. You can literally just pick up the south end stop it will take you to the north one in like three minutes and so if I've ever had jobs I worked at the MTC for a while if I have jobs up there classes you can just hop on the UVX and it'll take you super fast.

I live north of campus, so oftentimes, like parking in Y Lots, and I didn't have a parking pass actually for the first little while living at my place, and so I had to find spots where I could park overnight. So I want to un-gate keep a place if you're like north of campus, and you're like going to the Marriott Center or you know the LaVelle Edwards Stadium for a game, there's secret spots right just north of the Marriott Center and just north of LaVelle Edwards that might take you 15 minutes to walk to those places, but you save so much time on parking and getting out of traffic that it's so worth it. So park on North Canyon in between, I think it's Tim Towers and there, 2100 North as well. I'm un-gate keeping it. I hope that you use it wisely and respectfully. Don't tell anyone except for those you trust to not abuse this power, but it's good parking.

A transportation tip I would give is probably downloading the transit app. I think it is very helpful. It has helped me in knowing like what time the train passes or what time the bus passes or where I need to go or what bus specifically to look for, which sometimes public transportation can be very confusing so I think that that app will definitely be a great source of help.

When it comes to transportation, the best thing you can do is take the bus. The bus system is fantastic. Buses come usually like every five minutes. It's UVX changed and it's right outside of campus. There's like four different stations all around, so it's really convenient. If you're crazy and you don't want to take the bus, buy a motorcycle. If you have a motorcycle, you can park anywhere and no one cares and you look cool. And if you don't want to look cool, walk. Just don't drive a car. There's no places to park if you have a car, unless you want to buy a parking permit. But at that point, just save the money for a parking permit and buy a motorcycle.

The most important transportation tip that everybody needs to know about is the elevator and the LSB. If you take that you don't have to walk up the hill, you don't have to walk up the stairs. You just go in the parking garage and it takes you all the way up to the top of the hill.

The biggest nemesis of BYU is parking. So if you have a job off campus, you probably need a car, it's worth it to spend the 60 bucks and just get the Y Lot Pass. I'm going to be honest, don't try to find parking anywhere else or try to park on the street. They will never be available. And often, BYU parking will just boot your car, which is 75 bucks. I can tell you because I've experienced it. But really, just get the $60 Y Lot Pass, or if possible, you can just leave your car parked at really any one of the empty huge lots over by the stadium, and then you just take the bus over. And then, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's pretty much how it works.

There's a bunch of buses around BYU that you can ride and also just live close to campus and then you can walk.

If you're driving, always try to leave so that you get to campus at least 15 minutes before because parking spots on campus are so hard to find. So, transportation tip, leave early every time. And if you can walk, walking around campus versus driving is so much faster.

When I went to BYU the first time, transportation was kind of work in progress. They had some busing systems, but they hadn't figured it out. But the second time I went back, they had partnered with the UTA system and my best piece of advice is take advantage of that. Yes, driving a car is nice, but take advantage of the busing and the trains and the front runner because it is free to students and you just have to scan your ID and it makes life a whole lot easier. And it's a good way to get downtown if you wanted to go downtown and get out of Provo and go see Salt Lake City. And then you can get back to Provo, no problem, all free.

Another way to get around in Utah, I guess, or just on campus is to get like a bike or, of course, I have an electric skateboard, which I use every day. It saves, it honestly saves me a lot of time. It's very convenient. The only thing that's tricky is if you're on campus, you do, if you have a bike, you have to park it somewhere. For me, I have a skateboard, so I can bring it, but I have to like drag it around everywhere, which kind of gets painful sometimes, but, but yeah, if you, if you want something, if you don't have a, if you can't afford a car, but you want transportation other than public transportation, then, you know, just get a bike or something, so.

A transportation tip I have is to be the friend with a car if you're able because you will be the one that is asked to drive your friends places and I'm not saying you should try to make money off your friends but you could be the one that's like okay it'll be ten dollars for me to drive you to the airport or you have to buy me a breakfast burrito or something like that and you will be the one that they will ask for all the time and it's just kind of fun to like have that time with your friends and to drive them places and to spend those activities with them so be the friend with the car don't be afraid to ask money for gas because you are driving them places

I think that's the best way to get around BYU. It's cheap, it doesn't cost you anything, and yet it's pretty fast.

Tips I have for transportation is to find close places to live or work or whatever that are more conditioned or if not I know that there's BYU buses that take people a lot of places and those are very nice and accessible.
