When it comes to leadership, I was able to participate in being a section leader for the MSS cultural night that they usually have for fiesta and there I was able to be a section leader for the Colombian section and it was just a great opportunity to be able to come together with students at BYU and be able to share my culture and just be able to also learn more about my culture and other cultures that might be related to being Latino or Hispanic and so I really think that trying to just look at ways that you can spread your culture with other people or just find something that you really like that you can kind of relate to other people is a great way to try to find some leadership roles and do that and I really enjoyed it and more people should learn more about the MSS office and all of that.

My freshman year, I got somewhat involved with the student government on campus. They always needed help setting up for events, so I went and helped set up for a couple of movie nights, put out popcorn, put up signage. I was looking for some help, and if you want to get more involved in that, there's plenty of opportunities to do so, but just getting your foot in the door with helping to set up for activities is a good way to get involved.

If you're in a research lab, my advice would be just to invite your friends to join the research lab and so you can mentor them, and mentoring them allows you an opportunity to be a leader towards them, to show them safety tricks, especially in the chemistry labs. This would be a great opportunity.
