Their intramural program is pretty legendary. It's pretty intense and it's a ton of fun though and it's good for anyone of any kind of capability or any sport you want to play. It's just a ton of fun to be out there especially with your friends. It was something that really helped me to start well and to start having a good time when I first got to BYU starting with my freshman year and so that's something that's really a lot of fun and that really there's a place for anyone to be able to do anything they want there.

For extracurricular activities, I definitely have to say water polo in the tubes. It's super fun to play and also to just watch in general.

Intramural sports at BYU are so incredibly fun and it's really easy to throw a team together, whether it's with your friends or people in your ward, they're really easy to sign up for. Make sure you sign up early though because schedules do tend to get sold pretty quick, but yeah intramurals definitely do it.

Just getting involved at BYU. There are so many opportunities, there are so many clubs you can be a part of or there are different like clubs or things that like go on in your major. Once you've decided a major that you can join that are all like super awesome and like have lots of resources and provide lots of activities. So just make sure you're keeping your eye out and looking for clubs are really fun. Anyone can join like any club or once you choose a major like finding things within your major that you're interested in can also like be a really fun way to do something that's not school but that like you're still interested in.

A fun extracurricular activity to go to for me and for a lot of people I would assume is intramurals. For someone who's a die-hard sports fan and just loves being active and putting themselves out there, intramurals is a great way to meet people and to play the sports that you love and to get more social opportunities. So yeah, intramurals for the win.
Video 6 Transcript
You definitely need to get involved with intramural sports. Even if you don't think you're an athlete, there is always a place for you. You can do the inner tube water polo, you can play soccer, basketball, football, there's even the one where you can do so much walking and earn the shirt, but you definitely need to be involved because everybody wants one of those intramural t-shirts.

BYU offers a lot of really great extracurricular activities. This semester I signed up for an inner tube water polo team for intramural sports and it is so much fun and there are so many things like that. Last semester I did a frisbee team so there's lots of great recreation and there's also you know more laid-back forms of activities like going to the museum, really incredible art museum. Really close to BYU campus is Provo main street and there's lots of really cool shops, good restaurants there. So yeah there's a lot to do in Provo and a lot to do on campus.

One of my favorite extracurricular activities here at BYU is to participate in intramural sports. I loved playing soccer with a lot of my friends, but there's also sports out there that you don't have to be super athletic for, like inner tube water polo. It's so much fun to play, you're in an inner tube and you just swim around, and it's just a great way to get exercise and to have a good time and meet new people.

You know, my first couple years here at college at BYU, I was part of the BYU men's chorus, because I love music, and that was a fantastic experience. I made a lot of friends, had a great time, made some great memories. In my later years at BYU, I did a lot of intramural sports, I did a couple theater productions, and you know, I also made a lot of friends there, made a lot of great memories, and you know, different experiences, but all of them were fantastic. So, you know, if you like sports, do intramural sports. If you like music, try out for one of the choirs. If you don't make it in, you know, no harm. You know, you learn something about yourself. If you like to act, go out for the theater productions. You know, they have dance teams, they have, you know, service opportunities. There's a ton of things to do, and you won't regret it. So many good memories to be made, so many friends to meet. It's awesome.

There are so many clubs at BYU that like one of them is bound to be related to a hobby you have. So go to like Club Rush once a semester or anything like that. Go to the club's website and you'll find tons of different clubs that will appeal to your interests.

When I was an undergraduate student at BYU, I was a member of the BYU Cougar marching band for two seasons. It was an awesome experience. I met many lifelong friends and got free football tickets. I was able to go to two bowl games and watch many, many games in what then was Cougar Stadium, which is now LaVelle Edwards Stadium. Go Cougs!

One of my favorite extracurricular activities that I've done at BYU is be a member of the rock board, so the student section board. It was super duper fun. I did it my freshman year before I went on my mission and you get to help with pretty much every sporting event and it's just great. The board members were awesome, I made a ton of friends, and it's just really great to be involved in something and feel like you're a member of a team and to be able to watch all the sports and get front row seats, that was a nice perk and it was just a really great experience.

Some of my favorite extracurricular activities while at BYU was actually more associated with my actual program and the reason why I call them extracurriculars is because I volunteer to help on a lot of film sets because I was in the media arts program. So really just in any program there's going to be always volunteer opportunities at least in my personal experience either as like a tutor or you can work on like film sets if you're in the media arts program and the nice thing about it is that usually a lot of if you get connected in the right like just easy facebook groups people will just be able to connect back and forth and you'll be able to volunteer for a lot of cool opportunities so those opportunities kind of lead to fun little extracurricular activities didn't have to do anything didn't have to do any of them but I enjoyed every single opportunity that was given so definitely would take it again if I had the chance.

There's a club night every Tuesday night and they have a lot of different things like for every interest. They have some really good dance programs. I'm a little bit biased towards that, but there's this thing called rec night where everyone just gets together and they do fun dances from just around the world. You don't have to know what you're doing. You kind of just like follow along. It's super awesome. That's just once a month. And there's country dancing every Tuesday night.
Video 15 Transcript
There's like a club night every Tuesday night. That's like the best way to be able to go out there and just do extracurricular activities. A lot of clubs, a lot of dancing clubs, a lot of acapella clubs, a lot of, you can, there's like a bagel club. There's like literally like everything, ping-pong, yoga, like taekwondo, I think. Let's go to club night, Tuesday nights. It's really awesome.

You are at the base of multiple canyons. Like, go hiking, go skiing, go snowboarding. Just, like, take advantage of that. Especially if you're not from Utah or from around somewhere with this type of, like, mountains and stuff. Like, take advantage of it. It's absolutely beautiful and you don't have to spend any money to go hiking or to just go, you know, and drive through the canyon. Like, take advantage of that and, you know, go take some cute Instagram photos or whatever.

For me, I am currently trying to get into the marketing program, and so there's a marketing association slash club here. And that's just been a really fun extracurricular activity to go to, because at least for the marketing program, the more you go to those events, the more likely you are to get into that program. I would assume it's the same for the other programs here at BYU.

Getting involved in BYUSA clubs is the best thing. We had organized a student association club and that was very successful, meaningful, so definitely recommend looking into that, assuming that that still exists. Yeah, there's ways to raise funds and there's ways to schedule different rooms on campus. It gives you a lot of flexibility to get together with like-minded people and enjoy extracurricular activities.
Video 19 Transcript
I spent a lot of my time outside of class and school and work and stuff going to a lot of the sporting events and I loved going to the football games and the basketball games and the volleyball games. So I would recommend buying a Rock Pass as a student because you're able to get into all of these games that are at a cheaper price. But I really liked going to the games and being with the student section because there was just so much energy and it was just a lot of fun to be there and cheering on the BYU teams.
Video 20 Transcript
One of my favorite extracurricular activities at BYU is obviously the sporting events. Those are always so fun and so high energy and a great way to participate in campus life but still hang out with your friends.

I am a member of BYU Women's Chorus. I did it my first two semesters at BYU and then I'm on my mission and I just came back and I actually did university chorale over this summer and now I'm in BYU Women's Chorus again and BYU choirs are just incredible. It's an incredible experience, it's very spiritually edifying, but it's also just super fun if you're a music nerd like me and you love to sing with incredibly talented people. So I definitely recommend BYU choirs, it's for everybody, not just the best singers or the music majors, anybody can do it.
Video 22 Transcript
The main extracurricular activities that I was involved with was just sports, intramural sports. So we did a frisbee team pretty much every semester the whole time I was there. There's also lots of other sports. There's inner tube water polo, there's football, there's whatever other ones there are, basketball, there's lots. So you should definitely get involved with those. They're a lot of fun. There's also lots of clubs. I never did any of that stuff, but there's lots of clubs that can be a lot of fun too.
Video 23 Transcript
For me, I had a lot of fun going to BYU basketball games, football games, rugby games, men's and women's volleyball games. Those were all a lot of fun. I could go with roommates, I could go with friends, I could go with board members or cousins, whatever, and just had a good time cheering the Cougars on in whatever sport we were watching. The other thing I really enjoyed was playing in the intramural sports world, and of all things, I played on a flag football team, and that was just a lot of fun. I walked away with the infamous t-shirt, so that was exciting. Whatever your thing is, go out there, find it, get involved. BYU is at the base of a lot of mountains. Go hiking and take a look and see what's around.

Utilize the RB in the Smithfield House. There is a gym there, there is a ton of different courts in the RB for volleyball, for basketball, for pickleball, for... the tennis courts are in a different place, but everywhere around campus you can find places to play the sport that you want. It's a great way to de-stress. You need to go to the desk and you just show them your med ID and fill out this tiny little form and they give you a wristband and then you can go anywhere in those places for free. You can use the track, you can use the weights. When you're studying there is so much value in just, I'm going to take a break, I'm going to go do something fun and then I'm going to get back to it. And especially if that fun thing is like a physical activity, it increases how well you're going to study and it increases how well you're going to do in your classes. So take advantage of the RB in the Smithfield House.

If you're a BYU student, you are missing out if you don't go to the football games and basketball games, volleyball games. I know that a lot of people will say, hey, I don't like sports, and I totally understand it, I get it, but you are missing out on the cultural experience that it is to go to those games. I went to every football game, went to every basketball game, me and my wife did, and I think you're missing out on what is so much fun. And just this week, I talked to someone from our home ward who went out to BYU just this week. She wasn't sure that she was going to go to any sporting events, and on a whim, she decided to go to the football game, and she's hooked. Of course she is. It's so fun. Don't discount it. Maybe you're a math person, music person, whatever. You should try to go to some of those things because it's fun. And you don't have to like sports to enjoy just the people and the atmosphere.

At BYU there are so many forums and guest speakers coming all the time. They have the devotional every Tuesday. Is it Tuesday? Anyway, they have a devotional every week and every college will have guest speakers and guest forums. And a lot of times, I mean some teachers require these things, but a lot of times they're not required. They're just forums. You can go to any college's forums. And I, as a student, I hardly ever went to them because I felt so busy that you just don't go to things that you don't have to. However, the few that I went to were some of the best experiences that I have had in my life. Some of the things I've learned the most, been totally inspired by the guest speakers. Please take advantage of those while you're in school because now I have to pay to go watch a guest speaker or lots of money or I don't get those opportunities. And they, I learned so much and they were so inspiring and really changed my perspective on things.

Extracurricular activities. Yes, yes, and yes. There really is something that, some truth to the freshman 15. So if you want to avoid the freshman 15 pounds, get out there and get onto some of the intramural teams and have some fun. Plus, you meet so many people and you find your tribe. And when I say that, that's not being political in any way. It's you find people who like to do things like you like to do things and you will find new circles of friends. And that's a big deal while you're in college, because college is hard. So go play. Go play. Go beat that field. Beat that ball. Go have a ball. Have some fun out there and extracurricular activity is a big plus. Make time to play for sure.

BYU has a ton of activities. One to start with is YSERV. They have like almost 100 different programs to choose from. If you live in the dorms, get involved with the housing association. You can just ask your ask your RA how to get involved and they plan activities for like all of YVU or all of Helaman halls or whatever. And then I would finally say clubs night is really fun. Every Tuesday at BYU at like 7 p.m. they usually do clubs and they have tons of clubs. I went to a bunch of random ones like Rubik's cube club, social dance club, and they have something for literally any interest. You just have to show up.
Video 29 Transcript
So as far as extracurricular activities go, so I go to basketball, I go to volleyball, I go to soccer, football and baseball are my favorite, but honestly most nights there's something that you could watch, so that's one of my favorite things to do for extracurriculars around here and it it takes up some time, so that's fun.

So I played lacrosse for the BYU women's lacrosse team all four years that I was at BYU and it was totally the best. It was different, it wasn't an intramural, it was what's called an extramural, so it's pay-to-play and it's like a lot more competitive than intramurals because you're competing with other schools in a league, like a real league, it's just not NCAA level, so it's like the level right below that, so that was something like that was super fun. I had totally playing lacrosse all in high school and stuff and so like meeting all of the girls and like having a team like was definitely one of the best parts of being at BYU. So if you have the opportunity to do something like that, like I would totally encourage it and then I've also heard really great things about doing intramurals which is obviously like way less intense, like the skill level needed is significantly less, you don't have to have like dedicated your entire life to that sport, so those are two great options.
