So my crazy story is when I was at BYU, I worked in the audio visual department and I set up all the speakers and the microphones for Bronco Mendenhall to tell us all that he was leaving BYU. So I was actually able to tell my family what was happening before it actually got out to the public an hour later that he was leaving.

One of the craziest stories that I've known at BYU is I knew this girl, she was roommates with one of my best friends, and within four months she had met him, was engaged, and married. And it was through mutual, and it was absolutely insane. And it was only after they were married did she find out his real age, which was 27, and she was 19. Which is absurd to me, and it also reminds me to make sure that you, you know, background check who you're dating and marrying, so.

Back when I was a freshman, I lived in Desert Towers, and I had a friend who decided that he needed to rappel off the side of one of the towers, and so in the middle of the night, he and some of my friends actually were able to get to the top, and he successfully rappelled down the side of our hall. Seeing that Desert Towers no longer exists, and it's been well over 30 plus years, I think the statute of limitations has passed, but anyway, that's something kind of crazy that happened when I was a freshman at BYU.

As a freshman at BYU, a few weeks before we left campus, I decided before I was going to go on my mission, I want to do something crazy. So I shaved male pattern baldness into my head and wore a wizard costume around campus. And I kind of figure it's the kind of craziness that goes on at BYU. As people are preparing then for the next two years to potentially serve God and everything that they do, they maybe act out a little bit before they head on out. My children still make fun of me a lot for the wizard costume and the male pattern baldness I shaved into my head.

I was on a date. I had known this guy. I'd met him around and talked to him several times. Anyway, he asked me on a date and then we're driving past the brick oven and he says, hey, don't freak out, but I have a gun. And I legit thought I was going to die. So I low-key grabbed the handle and was like, okay, we're going to about to hit a stop sign. I'm going to tuck and roll. Turns out he had been working as an undercover cop. I did not know this about him. And so he had his concealed carry and he was like, oh, it was that. I just didn't want you to freak out if you ever found saw it on accident in the car. And I looked at him and I was like, good, sir. There's a hundred better ways to start that conversation. Then. Hey, don't freak out. I've got a gun.

One crazy story that happened to me while I attended BYU actually happened when we were in California. I was a student athlete at BYU and we had traveled to California for our tournament there and we were relatively near Disneyland and we had a gentleman walk up to us and asked us who we were. He could tell we were teammates and that we were from BYU because obviously we were wearing BYU clothing and etc and so we had a chance to talk to him for a while. He had heard of the church but he wasn't particularly familiar with it and so we had an opportunity to share a little bit with him about the church and BYU as a school etc and by the time we ended the conversation he said I want to buy all of your passes to Disneyland and he bought the entire team passes to Disneyland.

Not really a crazy story, but I once saw a duck use, across the road, using a sidewalk and yeah, I don't know, it was pretty funny, but yeah.

For FHE, my group meets every week and our activity last week was a scavenger hunt, but it had a bit of a twist to it. So we dressed up in inflatable dinosaur and inflatable cowboy costumes and we ran across campus and found everything in our scavenger hunt. It was super fun. And anyway, so it's dark and my friend is in the inflatable dinosaur costume and he goes up to some person who's just walking by and just like creeps up to him and just goes and the guy just like jumps up. He's terrified and just looks up and just gives an awkward laugh, but it was so funny. And then they just like got talking and stuff. It was super fun, but I don't know. It's just really cool having those random experiences on campus. They're super fun and the people here are just really, really amazing.

I remember my first week as a freshman. It's kind of new and scary but fun and you want to be cool and I remember we were walking outside Helaman Halls and this group of guys and girls came up to my friend and I and they said, hey do y'all want to go on a hike to the Y and I recognized a few people in there. I knew some of them and I was like it's 8 p.m and I thought it was totally crazy because I was just someone that usually goes to bed early and was kind of lame and I remember we went and it was so fun. So if you're gonna go, go. Do all the things, meet all the people and it's super fun. That was crazy though for me to like go on like almost a midnight hike up the Y. Also, that's the best time to do the Y hike. Do not go in the day. That is way too hot.

All right, so this is a true story. There was a time when I was an anatomy TA. So, you know, we deal with a lot of cadavers and I thought it would be an interesting time. You know, we make a lot of different specimens. It's a little bit gruesome, a little bit gross if you're not used to that sort of thing, but we didn't have any ear specimens, you know, like the outer ear. And so for one of their cadavers, I cut his ear off and I put it in a box and I labeled that box, the Van Gogh box. If you know, you know.

When I was a freshman at BYU, I lived in the dorms, and I remember they had this big no-no rule about those, like, gray sprinkler things on the ceiling. They're kind of like the olden day version of putting out a fire, but the dorms are kind of old, so they're still there. Anyways, they had this big no-no, you can't touch those at all. But the boys' dorms thought it would be funny to kick something at it accidentally and see what would happen. And lo and behold, someone did, and set off the sprinklers in the entire hallway, and it, like, flooded everything. And it was really rough.

When I was a sophomore at BYU, I had a professor who had a mistake made with some miscommunication with some TAs and part of the class didn't get a midterm taken during the semester and that was because we could take it at the middle of the semester or you could opt to take it as part of your final in addition to the final and so the professor ended up dropping our midterm scores for everyone in the entire class and it bumped my grade up an entire grade level so it was the best thing that ever happened to me.

One time I was biking home and there's this big hill that just leads straight down and as I was going there, it's got two lanes, one for bikes, one for people, and I was biking down that lane and suddenly I was going pretty fast and this girl with headphones in just comes out, walking in my way, not even noticing that I'm coming, not even noticing that people are trying to reach out to her, and so I slam my brakes, including my front one, and I just fly over my handlebars and pretty much just eat pavement, and so if you're going to be just driving, if you're going to be riding your bike on campus, just be aware that there are going to be a lot of people just walking by that just have no idea that you're there, and so just be careful, ride a little slower, and you won't eat pavement like I did.
