My favorite club has to be that with the MSS and that's the Multicultural Service Program at BYU because it's where I was able to actually be able to participate in both Fiesta and Fusion. Fiesta is more to celebrate the Hispanic culture and then Fusion was to celebrate the Asian culture. So it was nice because at least for Fiesta I was able to just be able to learn more about my own culture and teach other people about my culture and then also at the end of the day it's just to get to know more people and be able to put on some really amazing performances to showcase our culture and then also get to know about other people's cultures. So I feel like I would totally recommend first anyone who likes to do to learn new things about new countries is to do Fiesta or to do Fusion.

Okay, I don't think this club exists. It very well could, but I haven't heard of it. But I think having a club of people who have converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, because a lot of people at BYU were born into this church, I would say the majority of people did, and I think there's a very unique perspective when it comes from both people who aren't members of the church who go to BYU, but also people who have been baptized at such a young age relatively to other people who have converted. So I think it's a really cool perspective and a really cool way to find other people like themselves.

If you're interested in applying to the finances program, I would definitely check out the finance society and all its sub-associations. It's a great resource to help you to get into the program, to understand more about what you want to do if you're interested in finance, what sub-association you're interested in. And once you're in the program, it will be a great resource to help you to learn on how to get that dream internship or that dream job.

A club that I heard about at the club's fair that they have every Tuesday when I first got here was Looking Generations. And it's a family history club where you just go and you do family history for like an hour every Tuesday at five in the YSERV office. And it is amazing. I've learned so much and I've really gotten into family history and I've always wanted to do that but I never made it a priority for myself and I never had a specific time where I would do it. So going in and having that every week for an hour and be able to learn and be able to try different things like they have indexing of course but there's also something called reverse indexing which is where you're teaching a computer how to how to index records. So there's so many cool things you can also just do like regular linking records and that kind of thing. But I definitely recommend it. It's super chill but it's also so fun. So definitely go check out that club.

I know that BYU has a really cool ASL club and they meet once a week like every other club, but it doesn't matter if you're a beginner just interested in learning about ASL or you're more advanced, you get to go and talk to people, practice your sign language, get feedback. It's a really cool community to join.

So my club recommendation back from my day was Beta Alpha Psi. So it was the closest thing that BYU had to a fraternity, kind of, if you call an accounting honor fraternity, a fraternity. But we did have really nice sweatshirts that actually had the Greek symbols of Beta Alpha Psi. And ironically, I still have that sweatshirt. And my daughter, who's a student at BYU, was wearing it on campus in the Tanner Building the other day. And she told me that a professor had stopped her and said, do you know what that sweatshirt means? And so she told me that, yeah, her dad was an accounting nerd back in the day.

One of my favorite clubs here is the West Coast Swing Club. I happened to actually just find it one night. It happened Thursday nights at 7 p.m. on the fifth floor of the Wilkinson Center. At the time, I didn't even know there was a fifth floor, but I was just wandering around the Wilk trying to explore, you know, it was my first week at BYU, and I stumbled into this club. It's a dance club, West Coast Swing. It's a type of dance, and they met every week, and I didn't know anything about it, but it was a really small room, really small group. There was only like 20 of us, but it was super fun, and I 100% recommend it. It's just a fun type of dance, a really united, close-knit group of people, and it was kind of secluded too, so I didn't feel like there was, you know, a ton of people coming in, and it was crazy, and I couldn't make it, but it was just fun, low-key, and an absolute blast.

I would recommend participating in a club that's geared towards learning about another culture or of your own culture. There are many students of different ethnicities all around campus and it's great to learn about where people come from and to hear their stories. There is an office in the Wilk called the Multicultural Student Services Office and they put on a lot of shows throughout the school year that showcase different cultures from around the world. There's BYU Luau, Fusion, Perspectives, and all these are student-led performances that showcase some of the cultures that are represented here at BYU.

If you want to get into the finance program at BYU, they are super competitive. It's so competitive, like last year at a 51% acceptance rate. So you have to get super involved to go to be able to get into the finance program. So the best clubs for that are under the finance association, which is like the overarching umbrella club, they call it. And each of these has, or underneath the umbrella club, there's like different sub-disciplines. So like there's the Corporate Finance and Advisor Association, if you're interested in that, or there's investment banking, there's wealth management, there's private equity venture capital. And these clubs prepare you to get internships, they prepare you to get into the program, stuff like that. So if you're looking to get into the finance program, definitely attend those, talk to the presidents and the club members to get more information about applying, and then also getting into the seriously the best hack.

I highly recommend the Undergraduate Research and Internship Association. It's a bit of a mouthful, but it's super helpful. So it's urea. If you look it up on the club's website at clubs.byu.edu and just type in undergraduate, it should come up. Basically, this club has lots of events where you can talk with students that are already involved in research and internships and file for one-on-one like short zoom meetings and get tips on how to find research or internships on campus. It's super helpful, definitely gave me some great pointers and now I'm in research and I had an internship, both which were amazing. So definitely recommend.

If you're interested in a career, see if there's a club associated with that career or somewhat similar. It's a good way to meet people who are interested in the same things as you and see if it's something you'd really like to do or be interested in without having to take all the classes or work in something that maybe you won't end up liking.

If you're looking to gain more experience with computers or you just want to like learn some cool hacking skills or best ways to defend your computer from being hacked, I recommend going to the Cybersecurity Club or Cybersecurity Association, should I say, the CSA. I believe they have meetings on like Tuesdays and Fridays, depending on what type of lessons you want to learn, I guess. But yeah, I really recommend it. It's really cool. Very active club. They do compete in some competitions, I know, from time to time. And yeah, it's really awesome.

There are a ton of great clubs at BYU. The ones that I'm in that I really enjoy are specific to my major so I really like the Marketing Association and the BYU Sales Society. Also the Fashion Association is really good that they go into like fashion marketing so if you are interested in like ever marketing for apparel or apparel companies or clothing in general that is also a really fun one and really interesting.

One club that I really recommend is the Jiu-Jitsu club. They meet in the Wilk, I believe, in the glass atrium place, or the garden court, I think is what it's called. Yeah, it's really fun. You get to learn cool moves, take down people, you know. It's really fun, I recommend it. I took a Jiu-Jitsu class last semester and it was really fun.
