My first impression of Benin was how humid it was when I stepped off the plane. It was very hot and very humid and it's like that pretty much year round. The other first impression though overall was just how different everything was from where I was from. I mean the the way people drive on the street is different, the streets themselves are different, the buildings are different, the homes are different, the language of course is different, the culture is different, just everything was really different. And for me that was really hard at first to get used to all of these tons and tons of differences. The weather being one of the ones that hits you really quickly unless you're from somewhere hot and humid then you probably won't care. But I mean with time those first impressions that at first were scary kind of became the things that were so great about being there and the things that really stood out about it and that you like.
