You know, you always hear about Germany during the World War and France and England. Belgium was actually a place where there was a lot of the underground and resistance that happened. One of the cool things and one of the cool stories is essentially the Germans decided that they were going to drive their tanks across Belgium so that they could get to northern France and they could go into the Netherlands. Well, the people of Belgium didn't like that and so since there is such a lot of moisture there, they opened up all of the different troughs and all of the different waterways and flooded the entire country so the tanks got stuck in the mud and really prevented a lot of major attacks.
