When you're in the military, you need to be ready to go. My first deployment occurred after we just returned from a 30-day TDY mission in Africa. And I was scheduled to go on leave and was told on Monday, got a received a telephone call telling me my leave was canceled. And we were deploying by Thursday of that same week. So within a couple of days, we had our unit packed up. Individually, I had to pack myself up. And so the key point was you need to be ready. So if you're in the military, you just need to expect that the unexpected will happen. So don't wait. You know, have your legal issues taken care of. Take care of your financial things. Establish a plan with your family. Make sure that they're okay. And extend that even to extended family so that they might be able to lend support if you have a spouse and children. But first deployment was a very eye-opening experience for me. And you just need to make sure you're ready so that you can do the job.
