Treatments - Anxiety Video Transcripts

So I've had anxiety for a number of years now, probably like five, five years, and I've been through therapy for almost all of those five years. I started taking medication about two years ago, two or three years ago, and that's really helped me. The hardest part for me was admitting to myself that I needed more help than I had, and part of that was medication, and so I think not being ashamed to admit to yourself that maybe you do need medicine, like that's what it's there for, and if you need it, and if your doctor says that that's something that's going to be good for you, then I say go for it, and don't ever feel like you have to be ashamed for that.

So when it comes to treatments, I'd say one of the major things that has helped me is my medication. And I've always not been the biggest fan of medication because of side effects, but it's really just about finding the right medication that works for you as well as the right dosage. And once you eventually find that sweet spot, like I've been able to find that, and it's really helped me with my functionality. So I recommend that.

Medication is one, therapy is another. A lot of people find help in scents, so some oils can help calm you down.

Medicine and therapy are great. Don't be afraid. Seriously, no stigma. Don't stress about that. Worry about yourself. Take care of yourself. And always remember the people that care about you. There are people that care about you. Lean on them when you need to. That is probably my favorite resource.

Being able to realize when you have anxiety or when it's kicking in the most is probably the first most important step in order to treat it, but I would say that meditating has really really helped me. Every single night, you can do it in the mornings too or throughout the day whenever you kind of have like an anxiety attack or feeling kind of anxious, but just taking a minute and breathing and not thinking about everything at once and that leads to also just choosing one or a couple things to focus on at a time. Not being overwhelmed with everything, but just, you know, finding one to two things you can do each day even if it's just getting out of bed or making a good meal or finishing one assignment or making a new friend. Just focusing on a few things is super super helpful for anxiety.
