Oftentimes anxiety can happen from trauma, some crazy thing that happened to you in your life. And one of the most famous or the best known trauma therapists or trauma experts out there said that trauma is the story that we tell ourselves and that we hold on to in the absence of an empathetic witness. So if you want to decrease your anxiety, you know, talk about it, talk openly, start sharing about the thing that was traumatic to you. Maybe start with a therapist or a coach in a safe setting, but don't keep it inside. Don't hold it back. Don't hide it. It will fester and it will grow if you continue to hide it. But if you share about it openly, you'll be surprised at how many other people might share that same concern.

This was one of the most insightful things, especially towards the start of me working through my anxiety and realizing like, oh, I have it, what am I gonna do? I'll go talk to somebody. But I was told by the therapist that anxiety happens when you're worried about the future and you get really sad and down and depressed when you dwell on the past too much. And so it's important just in life in general to be where you are, live your life, don't put too much thought towards the unknown of the future. And the past is the past, learn from it, but don't think about it so much that it makes you really sad. So that's what I would say, because anxiety and depression, I believe, go hand in hand with each other like crazy actually. So that's what I would say.

Something kind of unique about anxiety is that it manifests differently in everybody. Some people deal with it physically and aggressively, you know, they get super stressed out, they punch a wall, things like that. And then other people, they just have to curl up and sit by themselves and just stress out. It's really different for everyone, so it's not a good thing to make assumptions about the way people are dealing with it.
