I'd like to briefly address how I got my first job. Like most fields, the connections made with certain individuals during my education and training ended up being the connections that mattered when it came time to find a job. When I was a lowly medical student, I interacted with a few very savvy and sharp residents that were headed out to practice, private practice, and I made a brief but meaningful connection with them. When it came time for me to enter the workforce, I made a few phone calls and those connections were re-established and ended up providing opportunities for me to join their practice. So those connections matter and I'm grateful for the opportunities that arose from them.
