One tip for getting started if you're interested in the field of anesthesiology is to connect with an anesthesiologist at some point and ask to follow them around at work for a day. That's usually permissible at most places and is really insightful. You get to understand what the day-to-day work is like, you get to understand how pivotal it is to work together with others and to see patient interactions, as well as some of the science and the nerdy things that we like in our field. So by doing so, you get some real insights into the specialty. When I was first starting out, that's exactly what I did. I was fortunate to have a mentor that I followed around for a day or two and it became very clear to me that that was something that I was interested in based on those experiences. And so that's my recommendation if you're just considering at the get-go anesthesiology as a potential career.
