Albanian drivers, they're crazy. Love them to death, but they always pay attention to other people, but not really their driving, so just be aware of that when you're driving. And then also, there isn't always really well-lit streets, so either have a little flashlight with you, or just making sure that you make sure you're in the safer areas at night. But other than that, honestly, I felt safer there than I do in my hometown, where I grew up and I lived all my life. But it's a wonderful place, and just be smart about things is all I have to say.

I never felt super unsafe in Albania, especially with my companion. The men definitely catcall girls a lot and so, especially as American or a foreigner, you might get that a lot, but I definitely didn't ever feel unsafe. But I'd say some safety tips though is to stay with your companion. That's always a good rule. And then maybe just trying to meet people in public areas or just like keeping your walking paths in a public area. But overall, I think it's a very safe place to be.

If you're a girl there, you will probably get cat called a lot and it's normal. Like, there's no need to freak out about it. Just be safe. Like, don't be dumb. Always travel with a buddy and just know that you will probably be cat called and that's okay.

You know, Albania and even Kosovo, like neither of those countries that I served in were really dangerous. You know, you hear crazy stories like the protests or, you know, like they're lighting things on fire, things like that. And I, you know, had some of that happen while I was there. But in reality, it really just came down to, you know, just being in good places. You know, obviously, you know, even wherever you are in the world, there's always going to be sketchy places and safe places. And, you know, if you want to stay safe, don't go into sketchy places. If you don't feel comfortable in a place, leave, you know, make wise choices. And there's not really anything to worry about. The Albanian people are very friendly and very kind, especially a lot of them love Americans. And so it really wasn't a dangerous place to be at all. It was just, you know, a lot of, you know, really wonderful experiences.
