My favorite funny on-set story is when I got a concussion filming the season opener for Studio C. We were on the Studio C bus and when it braked the cameraman behind me fell into me with his camera. I felt so bad, it was not his fault at all and I fully blacked out in front of 300 people and when I came to I was like crying. It was so embarrassing and I sing the theme song so my voice is like cheerily singing in the background. It was horrific and fun fact that shot made it into the theme song opener so you can see the moment before I was concussed because it was the only shot we could get of it before I was injured.

Funny stories. There's a lot of them. I've worked with a lot of improv actors. You should probably get some improv training in your background just so you know how to manage a situation like that because it can be very distracting. But also if controlled and if you are willing to go with that flow with the improv crew, some of those magical moments, funniest moments, but most magical moments of authenticity will happen organically if you allow yourself. There's too many of those for me to pinpoint one. There was a World War II film I did and they needed some extras and so I had my brother come out on set. We put him into a German outfit. I was an American soldier and there was a moment where I got to pull a grenade and throw that grenade and blow up my own brother. That was pretty amazing. And then in the movie, I took that screenshot and I blew that frame up with him being exploded and I had him sign it.

I guess I should preface this by saying that I am an improv teacher, and I love comedic improvisation and dramatic improvisation, which every actor should absolutely learn how to do improv. But we were doing a play where everything was very tightly scripted, and there was a parking lot behind the theater, and there was the back door, and in the middle of the performance, while I was talking, there was this huge knocking on the back door. And I kind of ignored it, and the knocking kept coming. So actually, while I was talking, I went out to look to see what was happening. And there was someone saying, your car's going to get towed, whoever's in there. So I had to come back on stage in character and say, oh boy, somebody's car is going to get towed, like to the people in the play. And then I turned to the audience and said, no, really, someone's car is going to get towed matching this make and model. And someone ran.

I can't even tell the story without laughing about it, but we were filming a video for the Working With Lemons YouTube channel, and it was helpless, and I played Elizabeth Schuyler, and it was, oh, just the longest film days. We'd been there for so long, and it was like two in the morning, and we were filming this wedding scene. So what happened is I would walk down the aisle with my dad, I would turn to my dad, and he would kiss me on the forehead, then I would go get married to my husband and kiss my husband. And we'd done this same routine like so many times, and we were all just exhausted. So we go to one take, and I'm just like out of it, and I walk down the aisle, and I turn to have my dad kiss me on the head, but instead I go in for an actual kiss. Luckily, he realized what was happening, and he stopped in time, but we all just like busted up laughing. It was mortifying and hilarious.

Hi, I'm Sunshine again. I was going to a premiere for, actually it was a kickoff party for a fashion event, and I brought a friend, and I was like, she doesn't usually go to these fashion parties, and I was like, always bring a second or third option, like an extra dress or an outfit just in case you get that one, you know, dirty or ripped, or it's the exact same one somebody else ends up having, you just have backup. Even in acting, you know, you want to have backup, and so she'd never done this before, and so lo and behold, we get to the parking lot, she gets out, and she's like, her strap, spaghetti straps just busted, and it was like her face, like just saw a ghost. I, it was, it was funny.

I was on the set of Witnesses, a film about the formation of the Church of Latter-day Saints. I played the older David Whitmer, and another actor played the younger David Whitmer, and there was Joseph Smith and all those guys. But at the very end, the premise of this movie, at the beginning, this reporter comes to see me, the old David Whitmer, to talk about the gold plates and the angels. And at the very end, I go to the door of this barn up in Canada that we were filming in, in Way of Goodbye, and it was a legit barn with cows and pigs and other stuff meeting. There were a lot of flies. So this very pivotal scene at the end, I'm looking out and thinking, this guy's got to do a good story. I know he is. Fly landed, beep, right on my head. But they liked that scene so much, they liked how it played out, they removed the fly in post, as they say, fix it in post. That was pretty funny. If you're in the industry, you'll know, and you'll probably laugh. It was funny.

I was working on a series where I had to get a little rough with a guy, and it was a period show. It took place in the early 60s, and so all of the vehicles, all the clothing, everything was was straight out of the era. And so they had rented or used somebody's vintage cars that they worked so hard to keep in mint condition, and the action called for me to grab this guy by the collar and pull him back and slam him into the side of this vintage pickup truck. And I'm a big guy, and he's, he was, I'm 6'3", he's 6'4", we're both in our 200s, and I slammed him into that door so hard that it left a dent. He wasn't hurt, and we had, it was a fun scene, but I felt so bad later for the guy whose truck it was.

Steve Young, who was a football quarterback, NFL for the 49ers, his son is a big fan of Studio C, so he came on set to be in one of our sketches just briefly. And his son, you know, met us and we took our pictures with him. But anyways, Natalie, who's in the cast, her husband is a huge Steve Young fan, has his poster and has grew up, you know, just idolizing him. And he was so nervous to meet Steve Young. He's like, Hi, I'm Alex, Natalie's wife. And he didn't even he was so nervous. He didn't even catch himself say that he was Natalie's wife. And Steve Young, you know, just a big smile. And he was very gracious. And he didn't give him a hard time. But the rest of us sure did. Because we thought that was the funniest thing like he had waited. He was so excited to meet his childhood hero. And he calls himself the wife. It was it was quite humorous.
