Saratoga Springs, Utah: Advice

Any advice for people moving to Saratoga Springs?

  • Check the plans for the future! I am rather upset to find out that a major highway is planned to go by my house. (Christine, 6 months)
  • Be nice to your neighbors. (Tyler, 1 year)
  • Spray for bugs, plan on irrigation water issues, and enjoy the peace and quiet. (Adam, 1.5 years)
  • The developers will overcharge for everything and services and shopping are very limited. That was fine when you instead had beautiful views and wildlife everywhere, but we’re losing those benefits. Also plan your life around wildfire danger, i.e. Landscaping and living on the edge of developments. (Brenda, 21 months)
  • Closer to town, the better. (Angela, 2 years)
  • Do it! (Anonymous, 2 years)
  • Be friendly and join in activities. (Chris, 2 years)
  • Be more libertarian, don’t join the “government should do more” group-think. (Skyler, 2 years)
  • Don’t go south. It’s too far from everything and there is nothing out there. (Alyssa, 2.5 years)
  • Don’t move here. Traffic is awful since there is only one exit. And their water bills are horrendous, with no help from the city. They are rude! (Candice, 3 years)
  • Don’t. They need to build fewer houses and stop using teeny tiny lots. Pretty soon you’ll be able to shake hands with your neighbor through your window. (Kim, 4 years)
  • Get to know your neighbors. (Ashley, 5 years)
  • I wouldn’t live in any Utah town but Saratoga is newer and has a great view of lakes and mountains for some people. (Anonymous, 5 years)
  • Don’t. (Bill, 6 years)
  • Wait until the roads get improved. (Cortnie, 9 years)
  • Don’t get bullied by local police or city council members. (Ryan, 10 years)
  • Don’t move here yet. Wait until the housing bubble bursts. (Julie, 11 years)
  • Get involved with your community. (Sue, 12 years)
  • Consider Eagle Mountain. (Chris, 13 years)

Saratoga Springs, Utah: The Future

How do you think Saratoga Springs will change over the next 10 years?

  • Too much dense housing will push out all of the country life. (Christine, 6 months)
  • Huge growth. (Anonymous, 1 year)
  • Exponential growth and congestion. (Adam, 1.5 years)
  • It will completely be developed with almost no green space left. There will be a temple and some more shopping. New schools and roads, too. (Brenda, 21 months)
  • Grow, grow, grow. (Angela, 2 years)
  • Way more people (busier). (Heather, 2 years)
  • More houses, people, stores, restaurants! (Anonymous, 2 years)
  • It will grow larger. (Chris, 2 years)
  • Continued growth. (Skyler, 2 years)
  • I think it will be huge in 10 years. I totally can see a movie theater and other large shopping places coming here. Less of a small community feel and more like South Jordan. (Alyssa, 2.5 years)
  • It’s growing faster then what the city can keep up with. Not enough roads, and not enough schools. Class sizes are over forty kids per teacher! (Candice, 3 years)

Saratoga Springs, Utah: History

Any interesting events from Saratoga Springs’ history?

  • We haven’t been here long enough. (Christine, 6 months)
  • My house was the third built in the original Saratoga Springs HOA. I call it the historic district, LOL. I’ve heard a lot of history from my neighbors about the early city government. The most influential was when they voted to change an ordinance to stop the first townhouses and ended up abolishing the controls the review committee had to keep developers, to sticking to the original intention to have a rural, open community with green space and low density. After that, developers could pay fees in lieu of open space and high density was mixed in. That was disastrous for our town. (Brenda, 21 months)
  • The big fire. (Ashley, 5 years)
  • Dethroning a Judge about tops the list. (Ryan, 10 years)
  • The cops shot a sword-wielding man-child. (Julie, 11 years)
