What are fun things to do in Roosevelt? Best kept secrets, etc.

  • Get together with friends, go to the aquatic center (they offer recreational swimming, exercise classes, swimming lessons, they have a swim club, and will have a high school swim team starting this year), get ice cream at Marion’s, go bowling (10 minutes out of town in Ft. Duchesne). Golfing is really popular here. There are plenty of hiking trails and lakes around Roosevelt for outdoor enthusiasts (fossil hunting, hiking, boating, fishing, camping, etc.). There are also bike trails. The city has a good sports program for youth. And there are music, martial arts, dance and gymnastics lessons available. (Jennifer, 2.5 years)

What’s the crime like in Roosevelt?

  • I’d say the thing I hear and read most about is the drugs, sometimes theft, very rarely murder. (Jennifer, 2.5 years)
  • When we first moved back to Roosevelt, we lived behind Strata Networks, in The Meadows. There was a high crime rate there, which I don’t like because it is so close to schools. Now we live on the other side of town, and we have had no issues. (Alexa, 8 years)

Any advice for people moving to Roosevelt?

  • Keep an open mind. And reach out to people. When we decided my husband needed to accept the job offer in Roosevelt, I still hadn’t seen it. Then as we drove into Duchesne County and Roosevelt city the first time, I said to myself, “What have we gotten ourselves into??” But I love this place! The people are great! And I’ve learned to love the surroundings for its own beauty. (Jennifer, 2.5 years)

  • Because of the oil field, no one knows how things will be in the future. I think that is the scary thing about living in Roosevelt. (Alexa, 8 years)

  • I hope they will get more bigger named stores so they will compete with Vernal. Most people from Roosevelt shop a lot in Vernal. (Trufi, 15 years)
