Magna Crime

What’s the crime like in Magna? (hot spot areas, etc.)

  • It’s high. Pretty terrible. (Michelle, 6 years)
  • It seems like the north west end of Magna is the worst for crime but I have daily drug deals on my street, so not sure that’s true. (Tawnda, 6 years)
  • Most of the crime happens along 35th in the shopping/restaurant district. Overall, the housing areas are left alone. (Amanda, 6.5 years)
  • I’m pretty comfortable with most places in Magna. The area west of 8400 and North of 3100 is a little tougher than the rest, but there are a lot of good people there too. It seems like most of the worst crime happens between those that are already involved in those crime ridden social circles. (Nate, 16 years)

  • Get involved and get to know your neighbors. There are a lot of really good people in Magna. We are living in our second home in Magna (meaning we chose to live here twice) and both of our homes are surrounded by people that we have liked and really enjoy being around. There is a smaller town feel to the place. (Nate, 16 years)

  • Lots of growth – regentrification of some of the older parts of Magna, drugs will move down hill toward the valley as home prices increase on the bench with more development on Kennecott property, improved transportation corridors with mixed levels of affordable and mid-level housing will promote additional growth. (Nate, 16 years)

  • People are those yards go unkempt, lots of drugs, crime. Lots of crime. (Michelle, 6 years)
  • It has very rich history! I found out forever ago my family owned what is now the copper King (I believe that’s what it’s called) (the one at the end of main). (Tawnda, 6 years)
  • People really seem to like it – or really seem to dislike it. There’s a lot of people I know that have left and say they wish they hadn’t – but that’s been more about the people they have left behind. It’s like most places – but in this case maybe a little magnified – you get out of it what you put into it. (Nate, 16 years)
  • Magna was named after Magna Main St, which was named after the Magna Mill. (Adrian, 25 years)

  • We use to be a town where everything was safe never had murders or brutal stacks people left keys in their cars because they knew it was safe kids could play free because it was a good place to be I still love to walk down Main Street to feel the peace I get there I am not afraid of my town never have been hope I never am. (Betty, 60 years)
