Jackson Advice

Any advice for people moving to Jackson?

  • Don’t bother, it’s beautiful but not worth the struggle. Come here on vacation. But living here is just not worth it unless you already have loads of money, rich parents, or don’t mind working all the time watching those folks I just mentioned, have all the fun you thought you were going to be having before you moved here. (Vince, 3 months)
  • Be prepared to lose some minor conveniences (you’ll Amazon a lot of stuff) but you gain so much. Volunteer to get to know people. Get outside. (Lauren, 10 months)

  • Go elsewhere. (Greg, 15 years)

Jackson Stories

Share an experience you’ve had in Jackson (fun, crazy, dangerous, etc.).

  • This one time I lived in a closet for $500 a month. I also ate oatmeal every meal for six months, I worked 4 jobs to pay for that lifestyle. I thought it was fun at the time. (Vince, 3 months)
  • Jackson is such an active community. I work from home so I don’t get the opportunity to meet people at work like others might so I volunteer to get out there. I’ve met incredible people through the Teton Raptor Center and have weekly amazing experiences working there, like helping to rehabilitate birds of prey. (Lauren, 10 months)
  • Town square in the winter. (Anonymous, 26 years)
  • I came across a drunk guy passed out in the middle of the road in a puddle of his own blood. (Bob, 28 years)

Jackson’s Future

How do you think Jackson will change over the next 10 years?

  • People will be leaving or moving to other valleys and commuting. The waste that is the commuter scene is disgraceful. Nothing is worth the BS you have to deal with as a middle class citizen here. There are so many better options than Jackson, it’s just been marketed. People will start to figure that out after they go broke here. (Vince, 3 years)
  • It will expand. Not sure how much but it will and probably get more expensive to live in. (Lauren, 10 months)

  • Get more crowded. (Bob, 28 years)
