What was a funny experience?
- One time one of our investigators asked my companion out on a date. We had to explain that while serving missions we don’t date. (Lora)
- Being called “me ducky” or “me love”. (Anonymous)
- Being “screeched” in newfoundland. Eating cod checks and drinking cod liver oil while wearing a rain suit. (Brock)
- Getting snowed in three weekends in a row- not. (LuWana)
What was a crazy/dangerous experience?
- We had stopped by to visit an investigator. When we got to the apartment complex we heard two people yelling at each other. We didn’t know who or where they were. Soon after we arrived, the apartment manager came into our investigators apartment and said, “boy is she crazy”. Apparently he was one of the people arguing. Next thing we know a lady walks into the apartment with a knife in her hand threatening to kill the apartment manager. I pulled my companion into the kitchen expecting to hear this man scream with pain. But instead the lady left after her declaration of wanting to kill him, her cat, and someone else. (Lora)
- I took my greens tracking on a street. At the last house the Spirit said don’t go there, but my pride won because I wanted to check that street off. The man that answered looked like the devil himself. He looked behind us, scared and hurried and closed the door. We were both shaking when I said to our angel army behind us, thank you and let’s go home now. (LuWana)
What was a spiritual experience?
- All of my time in Truro was a spiritual experience. It was an area that was ready for us. It was an area that hadn’t seen a baptism in a long time and we had many that were converted to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. (Lora)
- Being led by the Spirit to a person searching for the gospel. (Brock)

What are some interesting facts about the Halifax mission?
- The Bay of Fundy has the largest tides in the world. PEI is home of the beloved story Anne of Green Gables. Newfoundland has the most eastern point on the North American continent. (Lora)
- It was small in numbers, but now has a temple. (LuWana)
What’s the weather like?
- You can have days where there is rain, snow and sunshine, all in one day. (Lora)
- California like summer, heartbreaking beautiful autumn, winter as it was meant to be (polish your driving skills). (Karen)
- Wet and cold. (Brock)
- All seasons. It would blow cold air from the ocean that would go right through you in the winter. We’d wear 5+ layers some days. (LuWana)
Any things you really like about the area/people?
- Kindness. Everyone was very kind. It was a beautiful place in every season. (Lora)
- Lovely and loyal. I always felt at home. If you really cultivate love for them, they’ll know. (Karen)
- Good hearted people. (Brock)

Any packing/clothing advice?
- Buy your coat and boots there. (Lora)
- Longer dresses hide sweats underneath. Get boots better than you think you need. Happy feet make happy days. Scarfs. Layer. Mild summers. (Karen)
- Buy a coat there, unless you live in a place with real winters. (Anonymous)
- Bring a warm coat and snow boots. (Brock)

What blessings did you receive from serving a mission?
- My husband. He was my district leader for one transfer before he went home. When we met again after the mission we first didn’t know how we knew each other. We finally connected the dots when he asked me my last name, since nothing else matched up as to how we could know each other. (Lora)
- A true conversion to the gospel. (Brock)
- To many to count. Everyday I’m blessed because of my mission. (LuWana)
What are some skills you gained?
- Good study skills. (Lora)
- Learned to communicate and interact with other people. (Brock)
- How to study, teach, listen, find balance in life, love, work hard, play hard, and serve anyone. (LuWana)
What do you wish you knew/did at the beginning of your mission?
- I wish I knew more about other faiths’ beliefs so that I could connect what they believed with the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. (Lora)
- I wish I would have know the Bible better. (LuWana)
Any advice/testimony for pre-missionaries going to Halifax?
- It is the best thing that you will ever do. You will never regret going. I still think about my mission every day. (Lora)
- Prepare by recognizing the influence of the spirit. (Brock)
- Be prepared- have a strong testimony, because it will get tested every day. (LuWana)
What was a funny language mistake?
